Former Hammer Lee Bowyer reckons Charlie Austin is better suited to life on Tyneside than the east end.
We revealed last night that the bookies odds on the Queens Park Rangers striker joining the Hammers had tumbled. But Bowyer has thrown a spanner in the works by airing his views on talkSPORT.
The midfielder played for the Magpies and Hammers – and he reckons the best way forward for Austin is to move to the north east.
He said: “I think he would be better suited up in Newcastle. West Ham have got a couple of forwards already. They have got big Andy Carroll, they have got Sakho who scored a few goals last season.
“Newcastle, I can’t think of any of their strikers but Cisse – and he wants to leave! He [Austin] would be loved up at Newcastle if he starts scoring some goals. They are great fans and he should hit the ground running if he decides to go there.”
Remind me – who was this Bowyer chap? Was he any good? I just can’t recall a single moment …
That’s if the manager is not vindictive and has favourites then it does not how bad you play you will still get in the team,
At the moment we have 1 forward for Austin,Hernandez or Jimanez to compete with that’s Sakho,
If who ever comes in and does the job then Carroll and Valencia will have to sit and wait for there chance ?
Just like last year when Sakho and Valencia took the premier by storm on to be pushed out by Carroll and Nolan at a managers whim
If we lose in Europe Hernandez and Jimenez won’t even wont to come,
They will. Money talks, and talks a lot in this game…
Its called competition for places Kevin, thats the idea.So no one gets an easy ride into the team week after week. You have to prove you deserve to be in the team.Players who are not up for the fight aint worth keeping anyway.
Don’t worry Kevin, if Austin comes it’ll make one of our weaker strikers leave not one of the good ones.
Newcastle fans are never happy with anything or anybody .. Still have dilutions of granduar and Mclaran won’t last long either . If Austin can prove he is as good as they say he is , then he should get regular football at West Ham .. No need to go to a Cold , Wet miserable place like Tynside . The only danger I can see is a West Ham squad that is beginning to get a bit too big .. Everybody will be fighting for their place , but there will enevitably be a couple who don’t like or want to sit on the bench week in week out and start rumblings of wanting to leave . That has happened at so many clubs in the past and is happening right now . The transfer market has a lot of unhappy players seeking moves as I speak .
Come on you Hammers .
