Former West Ham Academy director Tony Carr  – recognised as a club legend for many years – has described his final fateful meeting vice chairman Karren Brady where after 43 years he was sacked in 35 words.
Tony was speaking at a tribute meeting held in his honour where Tony Cottee interviewed him at an evening which was attended by several Hammers former stars.
And during the course of it he revealed how the meeting with Brady took place before he was replaced by Terry Westley.
The Friday E13 event labelled a testimonial was extraordinary in the revelation where Tony related the events with Brady – the Baroness!
He said it went precisely like this:
 Brady sacked legend Tony Carr in 35 words
Brady: “Don’t sit down. This won’t take long. I’m replacing you in your position – you don’t bring enough youngsters through into the first team”
 Carr “There’s a reason for that Ms Brady…”
 Brady: “I don’t want to hear it. I’ve already made my mind up.” 
 Carr added “They offered me a day a week or redundancy, but they were effectively sacking me” alleging that he was also to he could have a testimonial so long long as it didn’t cost the club anything.
During his 43 years at the club he saw seven of his players in the 2010 England squad.
