The U21s assistant coach Gerard Prenderville watched the West Ham under 21s kids batter Liverpool with a fabulous 4-0 victory on Merseyside to add another stunning result to their season.

It was their third straight win within eight days and maybe their best via superb attacking performance against the Reds.

The goals came, inevitably it seems, from Callum Marshall, whose brace took his tally to 17 for the season, Gideon Kodua and George Earthy

The result took the Irons to nine goals in their last two PL2 games and saw an unbeaten run extend to eleven games. And they have now gone to second in the PL2 table with their fifth league win of the season.

Prenderville commenting afterwards declared it have been a good week but a long one with the three games and that the players had dealt with that and produced a very impressive performance with all of them playing their part over the week.

He said: “They work so hard on the training pitch, in the analysis room, and the gym. There’s a real togetherness in this group.”

Prenderville picked out an impressive front three of Gideon Kodua, George Earthy, and Callum Marshall, although he also praised a dominant defence, who secured their third clean sheet in eight days.

He said: “For me, it was about the defensive players today. “It was a real captain’s performance from Michael [Forbes] and Jacob [Knightbridge] made a few good saves too.

“The communication to the front line from the back to keep pressing was really good and yes we had a lot of goals today, but it’s about the whole squad and team, who backed up those attacking players.”
