West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has said she would fight the forced introduction of biometrics, photo cards of facial recognition of West Ham fans for ticketing at the London Stadium.
She was asked to clarify comments made in the Newham Safety Advisory Group meeting minutes in April in which it was claimed that West Ham would look into biometrics, photo cards, ticketing on mobile devices and facial recognition for West Ham games at the London Stadium.
Brady told the West Ham Supporters Advisory Board stated that the club would fight any insistence that they should do that adding that the club did need to add greater controls over ticketing to ensure those who are using tickets are using them correctly.
Brady said she was not at the Safety Advisory Group meeting in April but if they had insisted she would have said no. She pointed out that there is a minority of fans that cause issues but a good stewarding operation should deal with that.
Also it is an infringement of civil liberties, if non season ticket holders don’t have to provide bio-metrics it is also inequality, I can’t see it happening the cost to implement it would be huge and for what gain, trouble making supporters have all been identified in the past using the cctv so that should be sufficient.
Agreed mate👍
Also, without the current CCTV setup the club obviously wouldn’t have been able to identify those pesky coin throwers at the Burnley game😏
