Brentford boss lauds Hammers

Brentford boss Thomas Frank insists that West Ham will be more than ready for Sunday’s clash, despite playing in the Europa League on Thursday.

While the Bees had a full week’s rest, the Irons played Lyon in midweek, ultimately drawing 1-1 with the French club.

It was a controversial fixture, too, with Aaron Cresswell sent off before Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring, and Tanguy Ndombele later equalised.

Brentford pulled off a stunning upset last weekend, thrashing Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge, but Frank insists that his side have no advantage over the Irons.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixture, as per The Independent, the Bees boss said: “Every game is an opportunity. Of course I’m aware that we had a full week (to prepare) and they had a game.

“But I’ve seen also a lot of times other teams managed to perform in a three-game week – we did it a lot of times last year in the Championship.

“If it is any advantage, it’s a minor, minor, minor thing.

“I’m convinced that David Moyes and his players want to do everything they can to push for the top four, or finish as high as possible.

“So they will come with everything and try to win, no doubt about that.”

Brentford look as good as safe after last weekend’s amazing result, with Frank’s men 15th in the Premier League and nine points clear of Burnley in 18th. They won the reverse fixture at the London Stadium 2-1.

The Irons, of course, will be aiming to keep in touch with the European places, they go into this weekend’s fixtures three points behind fourth-placed Spurs.
