Brilliant Bowen blasts Irons back into top four

|

Brilliant Jarrod Bowen grabbed a brace to send the Irons back into the top four.

And it might have been a hat-trick but for an offside decision against fthe man of the match who saw his goal ruled out for offside against Nikola Vlasic.

The Hammers were probably not at their best on a night when Tomas Soucek was ruled out after testing positive for covid and with the manager admitting there was illness and injuries within the squad

However, Aaron Cresswell was back and there’s a chance Kurt Zouma will return at the weekend.

Bowen’s first goal came on half time, heading home from Coufal’s cross after a deep ball from Cressie had found the Czech right back. His second came after a VAR offside check in the 84th minute.

In reality the Hammers hardly needed to be at their best against a poor Norwich side whose closest effort cameĀ  when Fabianski palmed a fierce shot onto the upright.

It wasn’t one of those games which will live in the memory but who knows just how important the three points will be at the end of the season.
