Marcus Browne made his departure  from the Irons academy a week ago when joining Middlesbrough at a shock price of £200,000k aided by Rio Ferdinand who is involved with his representation team.

And it took Boro boss Jonathon Woodgate no time at all in handing him a chance to impress in the first team sending  the player on in the opening Championship clash of the season against Luton last night..

The midfield playmaker arrived as a 70th minute sub but, whilst showing little in his limited time on the pitch, obviously demonstrated that he was very much in the manager’s thinking.

The 21 year old was full of pace and at one point looked full of pace and lively when entering the game, while also skilfully nut megging former Hammer Dan Potts at one point which was his most positive moment as he attempted to work his way into the game.

It was a fantastic advert for the Championship. I think I might give my support to Luton this season, it was like watching West Ham’s academy from 7-8 years ago. Dan Potts (who looks better than our LB options) Elliot Lee, Pelly Ruddock, George Moncur all featured with 3 starting, I think Marek Stech is there also.

Middlesbrough themselves had some West Ham interest also with Marcus Browne coming on and looking decent. Darren Randolph in goal and Ashley Fletcher up top. It was a really great attacking game. Luton look decent. Couple of excellent long range goals also.
