Sam Byram is heading back to the club for talks with boss Manuel Pellegrini after learning Forest manager Martin O’Neill is keen to sign him next season.

Byram has been one of the unluckiest players to wear the Hammers shirt having suffered injury after injury in his time with the club.

And even after joining Forest on loan last season he suffered yet another blow and was out of action for months before making a successful return to action and taking part in the last part of the season.

He had made only three appearances before the injury but finished by showing good form in the final eight which looks enough to have impressed O’Neill.

The Irishman commenting on his future said that he was interested in signing him but wasn’t sure of his position with the Hammers and needed to find out.

And Byram has now told the local paper: “I need to sit down in the summer with West Ham, because I do not know what their plans are for me.

“Nothing has been said yet about my future yet. As far as I am aware, I will head back to West Ham, speak with the manager and go from there.”
