Callum Wilson for Irons report explained

|

Reports that West Ham are ready to move in on Callum Wilson can be placed in the same category as most others at this time of the summer.

It has been reported by The Star @ https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/788250/West-Ham-Bournemouth-Callum-Wilson-transfer-latest that despite him having three years left on his deal and with a £65m asking price on his head the Irons are ready to try tempting the 27 year old.

Having been included in Gareth Southgate’s England plans his value is only rising but talk of a move to the London Stadium is at best premature and at worse, seriously unlikely given – like most other quality strikers – he would be looking for Champions League football at this stage of his career.

Given that Mario Husillos is currently negotiating with Celta Vigo over the Maxi Gomez situation whilst considering a new bid for Salomon Rondon as a second striker, a move for Wilson is not currently in his frame.

And in general terms – as reported here on various occasions of late – the real window activity is set to heat up next week when the players return to training.

  • Kenny Irons says:

Wilson is injury prone and grossly overrated !!

  • Dom says:

I’d prefer somebody younger, cheaper and with knees.

  • Kevin says:

Me too , Dom . Can’t see Wilson as game changer at West Ham . It’s just Agents doing what they do . Where’as Grealish on the other hand would be a great move .
Without wishing to upset anyone ; it’s a shame we never saw Carroll at his best on a consistent basis . But that’s life , as they say .
