  CandH Exclusive: Paqueta injury update

Lucas Paqueta may be absent again on Monday evening for the clash against Brentford at the London Stadium writes Hughie Southon.

In the absence of straightforward analysis of his position from Moyes, Claret and Hugh has spoken with a source very closely associated with the player.

CandH Exclusive: Paqueta injury update

He told us that it would be a problem if the manager selected him as he won’t be ready for another two weeks.

If that is the case the Hammers would be risking losing him again to injury as they did when he broke down in the Bristol City FA Cup game after hobbling off against Arsenal on January 7.

The questions are never raised publicly but it’s worth doing so here. Who was responsible for such a decision given that he has now been off for five games during which time we haven’t won a match.

Whatever other may say I am of the view that we are indeed a one player team at the moment with neither Kudus or Bowen looking the part they were with him around.

Kudus drops deep to pick up the ball knowing that he can’t make the same runs without the Brazilian in the team and in all honesty he makes Bowen look like a central striker – which Jarrod is not!

Our source said: “It would be wrong to play him against Brentford – too much of a risk and I would believe the Burnley or Villa matches are possibly preferable but not necessarily from the start.
