Spanish striker Toni Martinez came under the watch of CandH’s Daniel Danielli Leach today in what was not an entirely dream partnership with Chicharito.
5 – Controls Zabaleta’s clearance really well but the ball is kicked against him and goes out for a throw
14 – Puts the Wigan centre back under great pressure and wins the ball off him but no chance comes from it
45+1 – Is offside when Masuaku plays a great long ball to him in the box but fails to control it anyway. He should have watched the Wigan back line as well.
45+3 – Creates one of the best chances of the match as he chases down Burn ferociously on the right hand side and wins the ball off him and running into the box to where he plays a low cross but subsequent shots are blocked and Oxford then skies the ball over
58 – Heads the ball well to Cullen over a couple of defenders from a long ball by Cresswell
64 – Tries to trap the ball in midfield but is pushed by Dunkley and does not win a free kick
67 – Plays a through ball on the edge of the area to João Mario but he leaves it as he knew he was offisde
69 – João Mario sets the ball to him on the right hand side but his first touch is very poor and the ball deserts him
80 – He is substituted by Hakšabanovic after getting a blow to the back of his neck. It did not appear to be serious.
Verdict – 5.5 – A nightmare in the FA cup for West Ham was also a nightmare for him and not necessarily at his own doing. I sympathise for him greatly as he got virtually no service all game like Chicharito. Despite the unfortunate circumstances he worked incredibly hard chasing and harrying down the Wigan defence and occasionally getting rewarded for it. However today was not the match to be able to judge him perfectly.
Another good review might not have been the result we wanted and now another two players down but if we invest in some quality could turn out ok. I hope we play Ayew left wing against Palace I believe it is his best position COYI !!!
