Furious Moyes blasts spitting Masuaku

|

arthur-masuaku-west-ham-action-shot_3785392David Moyes has told Arthur Masuaku he will deserve everything he gets after spitting in the dorection of Wigan’s Nick Powell during the FA Cup defeat today.

The manager said: ““He (Masuaku) will deserve everything he gets and he will get something off us as well. It’s unacceptable, totally unacceptable.

“Just as we were looking to get back in the game, we were only one-nil down, we weren’t playing that well but we were giving ourselves a chance to get back in it, but that changed it.

“We are all disappointed to be out of the Cup, but we didn’t play well enough and Wigan thoroughly deserved their victory.

“It was definitely down to our performance and we obviously made some big errors. Certainly, the error for the decision to send one of my players off was despicable.

“I’ve got no complaints about that at all. All I would say is that there is no way the referee saw it, but ultimately they got to the right decision. I can have no qualms about it.”

Moyes claimed the left sided midfielder acted entirely out of character adding: “I’ve not seen him from him. We’ve played him since I’ve got here and tried to give him a chance. He wasn’t really in the team. We like him.

“He’s a good boy around the Club and I like him, so I have to say it’s out of character, but it doesn’t matter what character he is. I asked him ‘Did you spit?’ and he said ‘Yes’.”

Moyes having accepted that decision was unhappy with the penalty award to the League One side saying:  “That’s a poor decision. It’s really changed the game.

Undoubtedly Grigg’s tried to come across and chip the ball back inside, but I don’t know where Reece can put his arms or his elbows, or how that can be seen as a penalty kick.

Sending off made an already difficult game almost impossible and with almost an entire team out through injury and his up coming suspension the next 3 games are going to be very difficult as we will miss the creativity of Arnie and Manu plus 4 or 5 others. What it does show everyone is that without our best players this is what we have as back up.Time those bloody owners strengthened this squad with some quality buys and not just loans and bargain mercenaries.Need something extraordinary to happen in the last 4 days of the window to save our season.Absolute crap when they say they cannot buy anyone because when all is said and done its a lack of foresight and serious investment.

Masuaku would consider himself very lucky if he was suspended for only 3 matches. It seems the tariff the spitting is a six-match ban. That’s what a Leeds player got in an earlier round of the FA Cup for the same offence.

His dribbling and fancy footwork is always entertaining but his football brain isn’t always there.

Disgusting act others have been banned for 5-7 games for doing it. Last thing we need right now.
Hear Powers might of said something racial but imagine Masuaku would of told Moyes.

You don’t spat on someone just disgusting & know another player out

I won’t do devil’s advocate, but the truth is those Wigan players were brutes. Encouraged by their manager who I saw on TV making signs to “go hard on them”. The number 6 should have been sent off for the violent challenge on Obiang, from behind, and scissoring him with out the ball. 22 kept on provoking Ogbonna, probably hoping for retaliation and a red card. Then this spitting thing which is not acceptable, but certainly was not for free. Something happened and Masuaku lost his temper. That said, does it make a difference if the spit is going to the grass and not on the player ? And following provocation ? And I am not asking from red or not perspective, but the subsequent sanction.

+1 but why spit ? Just tell the ref he’s racially abused you ? And if no action was taken then settle it on the field , we have history with Wigan and the ending of Devonshire’s career !!!
They should have hit them very hard and provoked them into a response ! But west ham never do that do we ? We are always the fall guys , the officials were awfull again but nothing will be said ! The pen was dubiouse as well ! But I’m sure Moyes is glad of the result ! But not the loss of 2 more players .

  • blimeylimey says:

Seemed the officials were more than happy to let Wigan’ play the underdog heroes and ‘hard play’ and ‘gamesmanship’ etc. and West Ham were happy to play the premier ‘ship of fools’……

  • sleepswithdafishes says:

I was hoping he would progress and come out of this season as a real attacking threat. This stupid act has jeopardized that.
