City must pay or Paqueta will stay: Hammers will not haggle over Brazilian

Manchester City will not be acquiring Lucas Paqueta on the cheap. That’s the latest from West Ham, as Claret & Hugh spoke to its top source at the club.

While the club are understandably reticent to discuss the full details of any player’s buyout clause, they are clearly not in the mood to be haggled with.

Manchester City are rumoured to be preparing a second bid for the Brazilian playmaker, but it is thought to be below the release clause, which is believed to be £85M. That news has not gone down well inside the London Stadium, and they have made their thoughts known to us this morning.

When C&H asked its top source at West Ham about any developments on the Paqueta transfer, the answer was unequivocal. “We will not accept less than the buyout on any player,” and the club was also keen to stress that they are looking to strengthen, rather than sell, in the summer transfer window. The club is not in a position where it has to sell players, which has been made abundantly clear.

The message to Man City (or anyone else) was forthright: either they pay the full release clause or there will be no transfer for Lucas Paqueta, and he will stay at West Ham.

Let’s hope that the owners don’t give into Man City just because they are a wealthy club with a great manager doesn’t mean that other clubs including ourselves have to bow down to them they know what the minimum price is so I would say put up or shut up there are other teams interested in Paqueta that are willing to pay the release clause so Man City can jog on and of course if he stays at West Ham we will be delighted ⚒️
