Jesse Lingard’s West Ham looks a little less assured after his latest comments to the official West Ham website.
The general feeling since he arrived has been that the 28 year old attacking midfielder is likely to stay at the club given the opportunity.
But manager David Moyes has never gone any further than that we will have to wait and see once the season ends.
And with the season now just one game from ending tomorrow (Sunday) |Jesse has chosen to give an interview in which the pessimists will believe his time with us is over.
He talks of taking away great memories and enjoying the experience which isn;t exactly what most fans will want to hear.
Let’s not believe it’s over just yet though. Maybe everybody is playing it a little close to their chests as is the case under the manager who also of course has a special relationship with the player.
However in his interview Jesse said:“I was already ready to play from many months ago so to play the first game at Villa seems a lifetime ago now that we’re near the end of the season
Well I’m afraid that’s that as he wouldn’t say that else …champions league would of swung it ..shame never mind ,use money for another creative midfielder
Well my take away from it is that he might not of meant that he’s leaving at the end of the season and that he might have just been using the modern way of speaking whereby you take away something from the experience if you know what I mean. Anyway, that’s my take away on it. If he leaves however I won’t mind because he think he would cost too much out of our budget, and Moyes could find a gem elsewhere, plus I think he is a player who will have ups and downs, spells of brilliance followed by some so so performances. He is a player who needs an arm round him, needs to have his ego boosted, someone to fluff his feathers up for him on a constant basis and sooner or later he will go on a downer as he did at Manchester United. I might be wrong. Seems like a good lad and he’s done great for us but if he goes back to Man U, won’t be the end of the world. We were doing just fine before he came and I’m sure we’d do just fine if he was to leave.
He also said this “It’s been a different experience [living in London] and I think a new environment is always good. A change can always be good for your mind and it’s been like a refresh and a fresh start for me. I’ve obviously on some occasions visited London on my days off but when you’re living here there are lots of things you can do and lots of places you can go and there are a lot more people, which is a lot different to Manchester! There are only two teams in Manchester and a lot more in London, so for me it’s been a great experience and moving to a new environment has been good for me.” So you pays your money…
If he doesn’t stay get Pereira from West Brom.
If he doesn’t stay, and my perspective on what I read in his interview is that he won’t, don’t we already have his replacement in Benrahma?
I also think that it’s just the way of speaking. Could be that he’s just saying that after the last game he goes back to Manchester ( or wherever he lives) then onto the England camp. He will be in the shop window if he plays in the European Championship. Even so none of the above means he isn’t returning to WH in the summer.
I thought that his body language at WBA suggested maybe he was not staying. West Ham cannot spend 75% of the summer budget on him much as I would like him to stay. Money is going to be tight this summer so I am thinking less likely he signs but what a great loan signing he has been.
He had a purple patch to start with, but nothing much since then.
I feel sure there are others out there for less money, that will do us quite nicely
Lingard has been hacked at relentlessly by the opposition. Last match, or perhaps the one before, he had cleat marks on his thigh.
We must be one of the cleanest clubs in EPL, false red cards notwithstanding. No Okay Yokuşlu to remind the opposition that hardball is a two-way street.
He brings value and a positivety we haven’t seen in years. Let’s wait and see before writing him off.
