Cresswell on Declan

|

West Ham went back to work this morning at Rush Green chastened no doubt by their extraordinarily poor performance against Kidderminster Harriers.

The game was put in some perspective by Boreham Wood’s victory over Bournemouth yesterday but that will mean little to the lack lustre Irons.

They will know that a massive improvement is required against Watford tomorrow night as they bid to move above  Manchester United  should results in their own and the game at Turf Moor go in their favour.

Thanks to goals from our well in form duo Declan and Jarrod we escaped with the win at the Aggborough Stadium but there will need to be much more than that on show at the London Stadium tomorrow.

Aaron Cresswell, however, was only in the mood to laud Declan when he spoke about the win after the game and no praise was high enough as he described the captain’s influence .

He told the official Hammers site: “That’s why he’s ranked so highly and he’s a top, top player.

We brought him on and it changed the game in our favour and to kick on in extra-time. I just felt that sometimes we got into great areas and didn’t really make enough of those spells.

But, as I say, it went right to the wire again, but Jarrod tapped one in from a yard out which was brilliant.”

“The Gaffer is right. There were certain spells in the game weren’t good enough on our part, but we’re back to work in the morning and we’ll get ready for Tuesday night against Watford.”
