Josh Cullen presented David Moyes with a selection headache after an impressive 90 minutes against Shrewsbury as we head into the game at Huddersfield.

The manager gave him and Reece Burke the opportunity to impress and the young midfielder in particular took his chance in brilliant style.

Afterwards Moyes made his feelings clear declaring: ” Josh was probably our best player today. Considering he’s only just come back and we’re getting to know him, he did well.”

And that  opens up a chance for the 21 year old to step up for his league debut  against The Terriers as the Hammers return to action at the weekend.

Despite losing two teeth in a late clash via a high boot, the Southend-born youngster couldn’t wait to get back into the action as h quickly changed his bloodied shorts.

With Rice again showing his amazing versatility by this time performing admirably down the left I think we can proudly claim that the academy  is back as a serious part of West Ham’s life.

Sounds like he will at least keep him & said before he is much better & off ball then Kouyate esp of late.
Glad to see him get a chance & he really was the best. So just hope he keeps him & Burke both played our of best positions but Culllen was stand out & will get better w match fitness & training w our team.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Cullen in prrseasons at Bradford got few chances & his work rate is fantastic.

Not to be a killjoy but I think he has to develop physically before he will be strong enough for PL, he has a great attitude though as shown by his fight to stay on the pitch after an injury that would have seen many heading off. I actually thought Shrewsbury were a poor quality team, against better teams we will find where his level is, hopefully we will see him again in the replay, every first team game should be a growing experience for the likes of him Quina And Burke, Rice has set the bar let’s hope these other kids can reach it COYI!!

Agree 32. Getting too excited, too soon, and he is nowhere near what he need currently. Tough tackling PL central midfielders would chew him up I’m afraid.
