David Gold calms Olympic Stadium fears

|

gapWest Ham Chairman David Gold took to twitter on Sunday in an attempt to calm some fears over the Olympic Stadium by answering some questions.

One Hammers fan Allen Cummings asked Gold “What happens to these unsightly areas when we move in?” ย referring to the gaps on show at the Rugby World Cup.

Bubbles1“There is still 8 months of work to be done to complete the refit of the Stadium. Please be patient. dg” Gold replied

Another fan called Isaac asked how fans will get to the Stadium to which Gold replied.

There are 5 train stations within a 15 minute walk. It is the best connected stadium in the UK. dg

bubbles6Gold then went on to boast

“The largest TV screens in the world and there are two of them” & “The 1966 World Cup heroes are coming with us, the famous statue will be sited on the approach to the new stadium ย dg”

One West Ham objected that Gold had said the stadium was 15 minutes away from train stations, suggesting it took an hour to reach the stadium at the rugby world cup.

ScreenGold replied: “It’s the stadium with the best transport system in the country, it even has access by boat and cable car dg”

Colin Price suggested the best Olympic Stadium seats are being reserved for ticket agencies for tourists but Gold rejected that saying “This is complete nonsense”

Finishing the the impromptu Q&A session Gold lost his patience with Greg Poynter when he asked ‘What happens if you drive (to the stadium)”

Gold barked back “For Pete’s sake I am the chairman of West Ham football club not the transport minister. dg”

Good article by the Hamburg on Wetpant till im Dry about Noble

    https://www.westhamtillidie.com/posts/2015/09/28/noble-intentions-harsh-reactions

Just dont say anything detrimental about Noble or you will be stoned or sent to the tower, lol.Seems no one can base an opinion on Noble through football reason, you are just jumping on the bandwagon.Wow,good to know im just a sheep with no thought process of my own,lol ๐Ÿ˜€

Thing that amuses me the most is that some people who will have nothing said against Nobke are the same ones who had Randolph down as a clown before he had even played a Premier game, haha.Nothing like double standards ๐Ÿ˜‰

As i said yesterday Ty,if he is playing well he deserves to be in the team,if his game is off & other options are available who improve the team then they should play.Noble offers alot to the team in other respects with his leadership & desire for the club.I really dont get this ‘untouchable’ tag fans give him.The same people are happy to slag other players they dont rate but try to claim their extra loyalty points for saying nothing against Noble.I have been to 6 of the 7 games this season, missed Citeh,he has had good matches & not so good but i wont not pull him up if he isnt on his game because he is some local lad or came from the academy.I have read loads slagging Moses this weekend & it is seems that is fine, even Kouyate has had a bashing for his performance Saturday, but dont say anything against Noble, off with your head, lol ๐Ÿ˜€

In regads to the rail issue, how many people actually tried to use a station that wasn’t Stratford Regional? Therein may lie the main problem; everyone will plan their journey to get there to that station, rather than try an alternative. Hence why it’ll take an hour – of course it’ll take a long time if 50,000 people all go in the same direction!

It will take time. Last week I had no idea which other stations were options or potentially closed off as we were all ‘driven’ towards Stratford. I would have instinctively chosen Hackney Wick. However if I had gone to HW then I wouldn’t have been able to get on a train anyway as they were all packed coming out of Stratford. So in the end got on a packed Central line train but did get on the first one. Others seem to have had fewer hold ups on way to the station than we did. For me its the routes between stadium and station that are and have never indeed been well thought out. Clearly for the Olympics they wanted visitors to go through Westfield, hardly an ideal solution for football fans. It will no doubt take most of the first season for the system in all aspects to be sorted out for best efficiency, but it would indeed be ridiculous if the best supported stadium in the country in terms of public transport should be stricken with serious delays on a regular basis.

You are right Spyinthesky, in terms of train lines we might be the best connected for different lines but they are mostly at two stations, if you zoom in on this geographically correct tube map https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/224813/response/560395/attach/3/London%20Connections%20Map.pdf you can see other than Hackney Wick which you will be lucky to get on the train at, you have to all probably walk roughly the same way to the Stratford stations and I imagine that Police will stop us taking the alternative routes to avoid trouble on match days. This means that if you want a seat that’s a long way from the station coming in or getting out will be worse than normal as in non trafficky conditions it is still 15 – 20 mins walk.

I think Noble is having a very good season, even scoring 2 goals, except for several hopelessly misplaced passes. Of course they can lose us points, but I think he is just trying too hard to impress, and not keeping it simple. He is obviously affected in a bad way by the added competition for his place.
If he don’t stop trying the impossible he will lose his place, which is what the squad system is all about. It still doesn’t make him a crap player.

  • TysonM says:

I believe this is a problem Fishy,i honestly believe with the higher quality players we are getting he is trying to live with them in some respects. If he keeps it simple, does what he is good at he will be fine. However when i was at the game on Saturday i watched Norwich attack us at least twice steaming towards our box, Sakho & Payet went flying past Noble to get back while he was joggiing.I just worry about his pace, players go past him like he isnt there. He can have all the claret & blue blood in him he wants but it doesnt help us in many respects on the pitch. All these bloody people who trot out stupid stats about his performance but they dont show how easy it is to go past him or leave him in their wake when attacking.Still i will be hung now for treason.A Wetpants bounty hunter will be over here to collect on me for saying a single word about Noble that isnt bigging him up as a local god, haha ๐Ÿ˜€

  • bubs says:

Now Nolan has gone the eye is on Noble,he basically is not of the class of Kouyate,Obiang and Song, and Payet,Lanzini,Zarate and Moses have more natural skill and ability,
That does not mean he can’t be a big part of this squad,he has got to give 20% more effort then the others and stop trying to make sloppy passes just take the ball off the defenders and give to the play makers,
Last year I sang his praise but this week I would drop him for Obiang just to gee him up,
Not sure if we do carrying on improving he will have a long shelf life,
The hole in the ground would make a great BBC TV pundits box and at that level they would probably get something right,
Seems Hamilton had the same problem yesterday as our club not to been seen on TV

  • TRB says:

15 mins walk? I went to the rugby at the OS……. the walk from the station is at least 30 mins. After the match, it took much longer as everyone was leaving at the same time. I suggest Mr Gold tries it for himself, instead of his chauffeur driven limo.
