Former West Ham manager David Moyes could be looking to get one over the Hammers by pinching the signing of striker Brian Brobbey.
West Ham agreed personal terms with the Dutch forward last week; however, a dispute over an obligation-to-buy clause put the brakes on transfer negotiations with Ajax.
It is now being reported that Moyes’ new club, Everton, could look to hijack the deal in an attempt to continue their move away from the Premier League relegation zone.
If the Toffees do manage to negotiate successfully with the Amsterdam-based club and succeed in removing the obligation-to-buy clause, questions will have to be asked about why the Hammers were unable to do so.
That said, it certainly seems in recent days that the emphasis has been on trying to close a deal for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, who appears to be a transfer priority for Irons gaffer Graham Potter.
Moyes has enjoyed an excellent start to his second stint at Goodison Park, with back-to-back wins giving them a six-point gap on Leicester City, who sit just below them
If Everton sign Brobbey, it’ll be because West Ham didn’t want him. There would be no hijacking.
Dodged bullet. I wasn’t convinced by Brobbey.
Really? And what did he not convince you about?
His record over the last year. The Eriedivision is not the equivalent of the premier league so to be not cutting it there doesn’t give a great deal of confidence that he will at a higher level.
A good match me thinks. Brobbey will be a useful striker for Everton in the Championship next season.
Would be better off with Pepi, that could be v good. Think Brobbey might be available to loan at end of window as no one daft enough to pay £30m
Are you sure 😂
