David Moyes is set to speed up the race for Jesse Lingard.
The Hammers boss who has landed a role with Uefa for the summer Euro tournament wants the attacking midfielder on board as soon as possible.
And with the player now excluded from the England set up reports are claiming we are set to try to make the move happen as soon as possible this summer.
The manager has made it clear to the board he wants the 28 year old and a three year deal would be likely for the player who turned his form upside down following his move to the London Stadium last season.
Lingard’s agents are understood to be ready to talk personal terms with the player only waiting for David Moyes to put pen to paper on his new deal at the Hammers.
United meanwhile will be looking for around £20 million but it would be no surprise were they to settle for £15 million.
Guys I do not know about the rest of you but it is too quiet for my liking both in terms of transfers and Moyes’s contract. I would have 100% expected us to sign players early this summer as number 1 we have a number of players at the Euros and they need to be given an extended break after the Euro, number 2 we have an extra competition and if we are to take it seriously then we need signings in early imo and finally we have a small squad to start with going into the summer. We are 4 positions short without strengthening, no striker, no midfielder and with Balbuena and Lingard leaving we need to replace them. It s too quiet for me at the moment unless there are transfers dealings going on without any information getting out which is very unlikely.
The window only opened today.
i think u may need to read the story again
My comment was addressed to Johnham, Hugh.
my apologies mate
If Stuart Pearce is sure that David Moyes will sign his new contract, how come he wont sign his new offer?
Agreed that this is going to be a nervous transfer period for us due to the reasons you mentioned and more. We know how Moyes likes to keep the clubs transfer dealings out of the media, a point I do believe he has made publicly and that he has insisted all WHUFC Staff to likewise adhere to. You can’t blame him for insisting on it and for good reasons, but the negative outcome for us is that we’re sitting here bricking it that we’re going to fall way short of the squad requirements again as you pointed out, make ourselves look complete fools in Europe and the moral in the squad drops.
u won’t be bricking it cos we are here lol
Moyes gave an interview post the last match and asked the fans to give him and his staff some breathing room, in relation to the squad for next season. Given the Euros are on as well, I think a lot of transfers across all teams will be delayed until the players involved in the tournament return without injuries.
We are all hopeful of Moyes doing some of his recruitment magic, but we have to patient.
