David Moyes on transfers

|

David Moyes has given his first pre-match press conference ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

Asked about incoming transfers Moyes admitted it has been a difficult window because the market has been incredibly quiet, with a lack of transfers between clubs at the bottom end of the league.

Asked about specific targets for West Ham Moyes said he never talks about players at other clubs but confirmed he is trying to add to the squad if he can.

“We have had and have offers in for players” he told reporters, per the Standard.

Asked directly about the chance of Jesse Lingard re-joining West Ham the gaffer said “You are talking about a Manchester United player not a West Ham player so you need to ask Ole about that.”

The West Ham Premier League season starts on Sunday at St James Park with an opener against Newcastle United.

The summer transfer window closes at 11 pm on 31st August so the manager has a few more weeks to land his targets for the long season ahead.

The club have been linked with a number of players and we know that there is a desire to sign a central defender along with back-up up front.

I am sorry his reply the market is quiet, absolutely clueless comment, the market being quiet has nothing to do with our transfer business. He is in big trouble and he does not even know it. If Spurs beat us to the signing of the Serbian CB, he is going to get it from the fans. People cannot under estimate the damage this will do to the team. He is in big trouble and the pressure is going to come fast and furious on him . He is right not to buy rubbish but that is no excuse for us not signing the players we wanted early in the summer. The fans expected top signings to move us to the next level for him to come out today and say the fans wont be too disappointed is such a ridiculous statement. Imagine how Rice is feeling, the promises of top signings, owners backing the manager etc.. The laughing stock of the PL is what we are – haggling over agent’s fees when we are talking about a top player and yet he is prepared to pay 30m for Abraham. He will soon find out that all the credits he got last season will count for nothing if he does not sign 4 top players in this window.

    • I think I’ll trust him.Opinions are finr but His actions in saving us from relegation twice and taking us into Europe will do for now which may not be the time to judge.
