Declan’s dream dies and he says: “It’s horrible”

|

Declan Rice is a very unhappy young man after seeing the Hammers Champions League hopes die on the south coast.

We may well have dominated the game but our emerging habit of not finishing things off in the final third has cost us dear.

Our inability to break down a massed defence was another huge factor as it was against Everton and the reality is teams know how we play and organise themselves accordingly.

We certainly had our chances but in the end it meant that we had to battle our brains out to get an equaliser via Said Benrahma’s first goal of the season.

Declan was deeply disappointed declaring after the game that t he lads could not have battled harder all season long to make what still seems like a wild dream a reality.

And the truth is that it was probably key injuries which did for us in the final countdown.

Declan said:”‘It’s horrible, because we had the Champions League in our sights. We need to be winning and we’ve drawn too many. We’ve still got to be upbeat.

‘I thought we dominated the game, but we’ve missed so many chances. At one stage, it looked possible.

The change around has been phenomenal. If we win our last two games, that will be West Ham’s best-ever (Premier League) season. “

‘We’ve given everything. Since pre-season, the manager’s been on us. That was a real bite in the teeth (drawing with Brighton). The injury (Rice suffered weeks ago) was a shock after playing so much.

‘You think you’re invincible. He (Said Benrahma) deserves it (getting his first goal for the club). He’s had a mixed time here. Hopefully he can kick on.’

So sad, Declan. Now you know how us, as supporters feel.
I guess you need to do a heart 2 heart chat with Antonio who from the first minute look totally uninterested … to Fornals who wasted 4 good goal chances … and Jarrod Bowen who the whole year showed no sign of wanting to track back and help his backline. And Diop, oh please …
And then there is Moyes, who continue with his ridiculous first 11’s and bad substitutions. Totally ridiculous.
Come on guys. Surprise us with 2 wins against anotherc2 winnable teams. Coyi.

@SimonM – that is pretty harsh – one would think that we have just been relegated

Fans back on Wednesday hopefully no boo boys. Get behind the team and be the 12th man. It’s hard not to criticise during and immediately after the game-I used to shout at the screen often lol. Most of the team looked cream crackered at the end of the match. Effort is thre just needs a bit of guile.

Actually Declan sounded pretty upbeat considering, and so he should. The players have done fantastically well this season and like Dec said, win the last two games and it’s our best season ever. Moyes haters and team haters can do one as far as I’m concerned. Jog in and go and support a plastic team with billions to spend like Man City then you won’t be disappointed.

Now that’s a really motivating set of comments from SimonM
Let’s rubbish most of the team and management and then expect that to encourage decent performances in last two games!
