Declan Rice was sensational against Sheffield United and so deserved to lead the team to their first Premier League victory at Bramall Lane.

That’s really is a fantastic achievement after a few games as captain and demonstrates that his voice is being heard louder and louder in the dressing room.

And if the interview he gave on Sky Sports ahead of yesterday’s game is any guide his is a voice worth listening to, full of football know how, good humour and a self depreciating manner – very like Mooro.

And in an interview with www.whufc after the match he spoke of how the team know exactly where it’s going and it’s as difficult  not be as impressed with his words off the pitch as his actions on it.

Sky made Oggy man of the match via former Arsenal striker Alan Smith but for most it’s fair to assume that Declan was top man – perhaps it just becomes a bit too predictable to keep handing it to the same guy.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/23-november/declan-rice-team-we-know-direction-were-heading  the captain revealed: “I said to one of the lads in the dressing room after the game that if you think about a special away win, 1-0 away at Sheffield United with a great performance, you can’t get much more than that.

“Obviously after what happened here last year happened [when I was penalised for handball by VAR and Robert Snodgrass’s last-minute equaliser was disallowed], but we came into this game with a lot of confidence and I think you could see that, so to get the win was really good.

“It’s such a shame the fans weren’t here because the stand they’re in here is a great stand for the away fans. It’s one of those where you want to score and jump in with them!

We’ve missed the fans massively, as they’d have been here singing like they always so, but hopefully they enjoyed that watching from home.”
