Digital season tickets issue remains with time running out

|

West Ham’s media department this morning left us entirely confused over the options available for vulnerable groups unable to come to terms with the use of digital season tickets.

After numerous e mails had flown between us and them the department continued to claim that – despite there being only four weeks before the season starts  – final decisions haven’t been made.

This appears to deny a statement from Hammers United from last night’s meeting which said the ticket office was insisting those who can not use a mobile phone or print from home would need to visit the ticket office before every game to have a ticket printed out ahead of each and every game.

Clearly that is hugely time consuming and given any travel difficulties a problem which could reach exacerbated proportions on match days.

Senior stakeholders from the club virtually met supporters’ groups last night but media department people at the club claimed to CandH no final decision had been made on the matter which is bizarre given the Hammers United statement.

We have received no straight answer as to why a card option – such as being given by Manchester United and Liverpool – cannot be offered , only that the club’s protocols SHOULD be on the record by the end of the week.

We hope we are wrong but it is now difficult to imagine that anything other than digital tickets will be available given how short time is running on the issue.

And it has to be possible that the elderly, technophobes, those without smartphones and those without printers simply could decide that match day is too much trouble to bother .

We are, and will, continue to monitor the situation closely.

Thankfully I have a printer LOL

Are they proposing you will have an email ticket for every game. If so I have to walk from Stratford station to ticket office then to my seat in Billy bonds to see a game. At 77 yrs my pins are not what they used to be. If so can I return my season ticket for a full refund. Not advised of this situation when I renewed. First time at Boleyn aged 7. Who at WH gives a toss. Just want make more money.
