Don’t anybody tell me Noble’s legs are gone!

|

GabbsMark Noble led the way again, covering 7.78 miles during the midweeks matches with only West Bromwich Albion’s James McClean covering more ground of the 220 players who started Premier League game.

Even then McLean covered just 10 metres more than the West Ham captain.

Manuel Lanzini ranked third overall, with 7.7 miles midweek with Pedro Obiang was not far behind, covering 7.42 miles.

Former Hammer Danny Gabbidon took to twitter to say this of his former teammate: “Nobes run 12.9k on the weekend and probably not far off that again tonight… four days later ! If your organised and your distances are right its much easier to get around the pitch”

Last weekend West Ham players were the joint fourth team in the Premier League to cover the most distance last weekend. The Hammers and Huddersfield covered 72 miles while Bournemouth covered 72.1 miles and Chelsea & Spurs covered 72.2 miles each.

Against Chelsea Noble was the Premier League player to cover the most miles with 8  while Manuel Lanzini was not far behind in third place covering 7.8 miles.  Michail Antonio was one of the fastest players last weekend registering 21.1mph in a sprint making him joint 7th in the Premier League. Pedro Obiang covered 7.9 miles against Watford and 7.5 miles against Man City and 7.1 miles against Chelsea. Lanzini covered 7.2 miles against Brighton while Noble covered 7.8 miles against Watford and 7.1 miles against Spurs. Last but not least Cheik Kouyate covered 7.4 miles against Watford.

Waiting for the haters to say that it was because Noble didn’t know when to take a breather or was always on the move because he was out of position so had to travel further to make it up.

It’s not the work rate that is/was in question, but rather the speed. That was more obvious in a static squad. Now that everybody works and covers, Noble plays better and even gave a couple of brilliant assists which were not converted by Arnautovic and Chicharito. Noble has the right mentality, a beautiful touch of the ball (he rarely misses his penalties, only to posts), and can run and run. Just not a sprinter.

Numbers a bit confusing with the units being partly in miles and partly in km.

What haters ? Noble,s legs have gone , if you can’t see that then you simply haven’t a clue !!!
Noble jogs everywhere at the same pace because he has no pace in him ! He’s fit but can’t chase a tortoise ! He’s always 5 yards from any body he is marking in midfield ! Marking ? That’s a laugh ! Makes whole hearted tackles when he’s in a position to make them but sometimes are reckless ! You can’t fault nobles commitment or desire to do well for the club
But he has no pace and its evident 90 mins a game ! So his legs have gone ! Period !
We all love noble but were not all blind and stupid enough to believe he can hold his own in the prem ! He can’t ! Haters?? Naa just realists who love the game and can see with our own eyes and judge accordingly ! Kouyate is back soon and then there’s Jan ? Then the bench!

Why don’t we have a poll on it?🤣

I will never question his commitment, effort, attitude or dedication, he is a reactive player that has never learned to anticipate danger or read the game, he looks better for sure when everyone else is helping out but he is often out of position, is prone to giving away free kicks in dangerous positions as he did last night shortly followed by Reid, we got away with them last night, he lacks the respect also to be a proper captain, he should be a vice captain / club captain he is perfect for that but he is replaceable on the field that’s for sure, I understand the loyalty his fans have for him, he is pure West Ham he gets us and we get him but when it comes to the top level he is below that, a solid PL player I would say although his detractors would argue differently, when you look at Wilshere last night even compared to Lanzini you see a different level, whether Wilshere is mentally at the same level as Lanzini or Noble I would doubt but on ability he is a level or two of above. The way we are playing now Noble can play his part and probably will but I would remove the captaincy from him if I were Moyes and allow him to focus purely on his football it would probably improve without the additional responsibility and distraction, I would make Zab captain short term and would look at Rice as a long term pick, he looks to me like a natural captain.

I must be watching different games to everyone else. Yes Noble was poor and clearly unfit under Bilic. But he has earnt his place for the next game. His work rate and effort have been excellent. His passing has improved setting up both our best chances against Arsenal. The chest onto Arnie and the pass to Hernandez were sublime.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Cas I agree with you on merit if he plays like he did against Arsenal he has a place in the team with what we presently have as options, against Arsenal he made a number of key passes forward, I would take the captaincy away though and allow him to focus on his game rather than captaincy but for me his position is an area we could massively improve in the playing staff with Wilshere for example.

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

I wouldn’t say he was unfit under bilic cas,, he does the same jog and distance nearly every game , he’s always in the high stat range , but stats and pace are two worlds apart !
His passing has been crap alongside good in the same game , v Chelsea was the same hot and cold , panics when he’s being hassled when he’s got the ball and inadvertly falls down trying to draw the foul which has backfired on numerous occasions! I don’t think he warrants a start ! You can’t compensate for pace ! When its gone its gone ! Pace gives you time on the ball , he dosent have that to use anymore !!! If Moyes brings in new m/f blood in Jan and when chiek is fit he’s benched !IMO . 😉
