Don’t drive on Sunday

|
World car free day is this Sunday 22 September when West Ham play Manchester United at the London Stadium and Newham council want you to leave you car at home and join thousands across London by taking the train, walking or cycling instead.

Newham Council says they have declared a Climate Emergency, and as part of this is committed to tackling pollution and improving air quality. As part of World Car Free Day, in Newham there will nine road closures in place. Each road that is closed will have tailored activities including traditional street games, air pollution awareness activities, arts and crafts, cycling repairs and much more. It will be an opportunity for you to learn more about air quality and get involved with your local community.

Stratford broadway will be closed between 11 am and 2 pm. Richford Road in Stratford will also be closed between 12 pm and 3 pm.
West Ham United have advised supporters to allow more time for their journeys on Sunday.

Well I’d love to leave the car at home and avoid the 2.5 hours each way I need to allow to get to and from a match. Unfortunately for the last 4 years Greater Anglia haven’t been arsed to run a rail service from where I live on match days; if they had I could take 1h 15m each way and the family would be a lot happier…. bell ends!

It makes you laugh, the trains haven’t hardly worked at weekends since we moved to the new stadium, guess what they have a bus replacement service again sunday. No driving day lol.

Great timing. No trains between Chingford & Hackney Downs Saturday & Sunday.

    Fantastic Planning.
As well as No trains between Chingford & Hackney Downs, but there are also No trains on the Stratford to Gospel Oak Overground, including Hackney Wick Station, which will be closed.
What a day for Newham Council to close Roads in and around Stratford, including Stratford Broadway. On a match day with 60,000 spectators at the London Stadium, which is in Startford.
Honestly, you couldn’t make this up.
