Eddie Howe and the West Ham connection

|

Recent reports have suggested that Eddie Howe and his backroom team could be interested in joining West Ham should Manuel Pellegrini resign or be sacked.

However, neither side can make any formal formal approach until theĀ  West Ham’manager position becomes officially vacant.

At that point permission can be sought to speak with the 41 year old who so far has shown no desire to leave the club of which he has now been manager for 12 years over two spells.

Howe is understood to have a contract with the Cherries until next summer although there is thought to be a two year option attached.

Despite being the fan’s favourite to replace Pellegrini, Howe would not come cheap and it would take a top package to prise him from away from the south coast were he to want out.

Meanwhile it turns out that his number two, Jason Tindal, comes from a West Ham family.

The 42-year-old eastender was born in Mile End and his father Jimmy Tindal founded the Sunday League football team Senrab F.C. based at Wanstead Flats in Forest Gate, East London.

Jimmy was also a West Ham youth development officer at the club for many years. Senrab players included John Terry, Bobby Zamora and Ledley King.

Jason was an apprentice at Charlton but after his release joined Bournemouth playing over 173 senior games for the Cherries.

In 2008 Tindal was appointed as assistant manager to Jimmy Quinn at A.F.C Bournemouth when Quinn was sacked in 2009 he stayed on to become Howe’s number two.

Not the right time for Howe imo. Might have been ok if he had a pre season to establish himself, but this is a firefighting job. We need somebody who knows what is needed & has done it before. Also, as I have pointed out a couple of times on here, Bournemouth have a worse record than us over this calendar year. Then there is his Burnley experience to explain away. Also, it wouldn’t bother me, but when I saw them a few weeks back (against Man U I think?)it was like watching an Allardyce/Moyes side. A lot of Hammers fans might want to be careful what they wish for.

good article, i dont think he would want to come to west ham as its a disaster area. look at Spurs thrashed us on saturday and what a result in CL thats the measure of a club going forward all be it with 11 better players than us . I think yet again we need a stop gap manager till seasons end wether its up or down, but are we going to waste money in january as either MP or a replacement manager buys short term. been watching west ham since 1952 and i feel we are at the lowest point in the clubs history [ not leagues or positions] just EVERYTHING around this club stinks

The difference between us and the spuds on Saturday was Roberto. 1st and 3rd goals were down to him! They were nothing special – even with Michael Oliver’s help. Last night they needed a ballboy to help them.

Pay whatever it takes. He can not only save us but take us forward if given the money. He spends wisely which will please Sully.
For the success of the club, give the fans what they want Sully.
P.S . Buy the stadium so we can revamp the seats so I can see the players please.

Also Lee Bowyer, Paul Konchesky, Alan Curbishley, and Jermaine Defoe who went on to play for the Hammers. Plus Tony Carr was a coach there.

Funny how Brighton have suddenly seen fit to sign Graham Potter up until 2025.
Managerial merry go round jitters maybe!
