Phillips says no to West Ham

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been ruled out as a replacement for Declan Rice by West Ham.

He has been regularly linked with the club over a period of months but as exclusively reported by Claret and Hugh’s northern correspondent Terry Robbins has made it clear to City boss Pep Guardiola he is going nowhere.

He made only a handful of appearances for the club last season and David Moyes – having been beaten to his signature last year – hoped he would have a chance of attracting him this time around.

However, there is now no chance of bringing him to the London Stadium – a position confirmed now by our top contact at the club

We asked if it was a realistic proposition given all the noise there has been in the media and were told it wouldn’t be happening.

Our source said: “There was, of course, interest given David Moyes bid for him but the player has made it clear to everybody he is staying where he is. And that is how we understand it.”

We are in serious trouble if we are thinking of signing a player like Phillip’s. Moyes needs to be routed out if the club as quickly as possible. I really hope that Sullivan the new dog stand up to him.

Reminds me of Steve Macmanaman at Real Madrid. Happy to sit on the bench and collect the medals

Thank the Lord for that! Party boy who is injury prone. Please stop signing players who are medical room squatters

Great news…….. now go and get Barnes

I respect your opinion but for me he does not do enough in games, a very average defensive midfielder and not clever thinking yet again from Moyes’s, put it this way if he did sign him, Paqueta wud be seriously looking for the exit door as players know quality and he certainly ain’t that. I would even prefer to sign fred from united than Phillips, much better player and cheaper..

    Overweight, overpaid and overhyped.

Didn’t want him at West Ham.

I think Phillips would’ve been decent for us but he has made it clear that he doesn’t want to come. Admire the honesty. Now time to move on

We have polished enough sick notes at the London Stadium since 2016, the sick note cabinet is bigger than the trophy cabinet. Happy to leave him be.
