Following West Ham’s relegation to the championship, it was assumed that on loan and short contracted players such as Adama Traore, Axel Disasi and Callum Wilson would be leaving at the end of the season. Indeed, in Traore and Disasi’s case, with both have now been confirmed as having departed West Ham United.

Callum Wilson‘s case was more curious: His one-season pay per play contract ends on 30th June  – next week – and it was expected that he’d be amongst those confirmed as released by West Ham. However his name was absent from the list of “releases’ made by the club a couple of weeks ago.

A source close to West Ham United has confirmed to Claret and Hugh that “Callum Wilson had talks with West Ham yesterday” over his future, now that the club has been relegated to the Championship.

Wilson’s future will be known any day after talks with West Ham United

The veteran striker has already been linked with two of the newly promoted sides in the Premier League – Hull City and Coventry – as he doubtless considers heading off in search of the elusive 5 goals he seeks to join the Premier League’s exclusive 100 goal club.

However it seems there may be a plan afoot to keep him at West Ham for another season as the club try and plot their way out of the Championship. Either way, with talks having taken place, we’ll know soon enough.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
