Report Claims West Ham’s enormous asking price will be met

Of the two biggest, most high-profile departures from east London this summer, Mateus Fernandes‘ transfer is likely to take place soonest as the young midfielder is accessible and available, seeing that he’s not cocooned away with his national side at the summer World Cup finals.

The young Portuguese midfielder is therefore free to make a decision on his own future away from the  six week tournament that is shielding Crysencio Summerville from any direct talk of transfers as the Dutchman, conversely, tries to stay fully focussed on events on the pitch.

Irrespective of limited news seeping out of West Ham right now without a head of recruitment – and something of a boardroom tussle going on out of sight, the Daily Mail has gone all-in on their claim that Tottenham Hotspur will be the victors in the pursuit of Fernandes, with their assertion that:

“Tottenham are “seemingly prepared to meet the £85m asking price”.

Which will feel like a vindication of Kretinskys negotiation stance: The ‘take it or leave it’ declarations of weeks ago have borne fruit – if the Mail is to be believed, remember, and apparently ,£85 million it will be, if proven correct.

Personal terms of course appear to have already been agreed in this back to front transfer world but until this bid is confirmed as ‘accepted’ by the club themselves I still wouldn’t be 100% convinced that Fernandes is heading to North London. I’m quite willing to be proven wrong!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

85m for a good player not a great or elite who could be is a decent price. At 21 years old he is not going to be a Bellingham, Owen, Rooney or Dowman I don’t think so I would say take the money

  • Jeeps says:

    £100m sounds better.
Who is best Fernandez or Rice?
Fernandez has age on his side.

I hope we stick to our guns
We wanted 85million and that is what we must insist on, don’t forget Southampton have a selling on clause
We need to help pay our debts and get some players in a.s.a.p

If they will pay £85m then tell them thee. Price has gone up to £100m. Exactly, what other clubs do to us

It sounds possible, except for the “if the Mail is to be believed” element, I have run my adult life on the basis that nothing the Daily Fail “reveals” should ever be believed
