Fans deliver verdict on Arthur’s contract extension

|

West Ham fans voting in a ClaretandHugh poll reckon Arthur Masuaku is worth his new four year deal.

Arthur has taken plenty of stick for his defensive abilities (?) but after the Hammers announced he was getting a four year extension yesterday, there were more than a few murmurs on the forums.

And in the poll run by CandH we simply asked whether it was a good plan or not.

Nearly 2,000 followers got involved with 1,108 giving the deal a thumbs up – 59.28 per cent of the vote, while 781 (40.72) claimed the deal shouldn’t have been offered.

Members of the ClaretandHugh Facebook group at @https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ were pretty well split down the middle.

Two comments here reflect that:

O Yes, as long as we play him where he’s most potent. Unless we get a terrible run of injuries in the full-back position and go through the likes of Cresswell, Zaba, Fredericks and Johnson, he should be playing in his stronger position as a fast, left-sided wing-back, and fizzing those crosses in for Haller and Chicha to get on the end of. Then he’ll be worth the extension.
O Too long for me as jury is out on him. Agree with giving him a contract extension as he would have been out of contract at the end of the season so protect the transfer value. Two years would have been more than enough.

If Pellegrini thinks he is worth a four year extension which he obviously does, that’s good enough for me.
