Fans verdict: Sterile stadum… poor performance

|
West Ham revisited the bad old days against Stoke City, after recent performances and here the members at the ClaretandHugh Facebook forum deliver their verdict:

stadium – Time to give Randolph a chance. I’m sick and tired of Adrian being untouchable. Obiang and Antonio played well. Can’t say same about others.

– Obiang did OK. He showed some desire at least. Antonio scored – deserve some credit.
One poor all round game from us, not one player seems to have any confidence, the ground is like a library, no atmosphere at all, worry with upcoming games after break, we are one poor team!
– We gave away possession far too easily, Antonio’s the only one who has desire and hungry for goals.
– We’ve shot ourselves in the foot again by creating another step towards making the OS a sterile stadium and that’s nothing to do with the performance.
– After Adrian’s error he needs to be made an example of and lean he cannot make these mistake without paying the cost then, I hope the other players will start realising and start playing. Bilic needs to come down hard. This cannot continue.
– I like Bilic but some serious thought must be given to letting him carry on much longer, poor signings, poor tactics, poor performances, poor subs & poor/dreadful results ! Yes it would seem fairer to give him a bit longer but if we do we risk NO1 wanting the job ! We can’t go down it would set us back years !
A decent team would’ve ripped us apart today.
– Very disappointing. Ayew didn’t impress. I hope this is just a temporary glitch especially with the next few fixtures ahead! I fear a long and very hard season ahead.
– Home fans being moved around stadium like chess pieces. Stewards return and make themselves busy amongst home fans. All 50,000 being “searched” before entry to OSS. I witnessed a “70” year old grey haired lady being patted down.
– Today was the first match that felt like a bit of a chore. Dead atmosphere despite the contrived attempts to generate one before kickoff. Standing in the cold to get into the tube. Nothing on the field to get excited about. And they’d sold out of Mars bars at half-time! At least it wasn’t raining…

nstead of of moaning, *****ing, swearing, getting ulcers, or a having heart attack, lets instead get behind the team have constructive dialogue, point out what we think is wrong, and how we think it can be corrected. Watching the game yesterday the pitch looked really slow, and the ball was not coming on at pace. We lack confidence in each other and with the fans getting on their backs it does not help. The stadium and seating around the pitch is to far away , and that is something i dont think can be put right, well not in the foreseeable future anyway. Slaven is the right choice as manager as i see he kicks and heads every ball, and must feel really bad with performance and application. Lets turn to the owners and first Karen Brady.
She has lost her way since we left Upton Park where we were a close knit family, and i feel she felt uncomfortable there thinking it was beneath her being there. Now she is at The London Stadium she thinks it should be a corporate venue for people who know nothing about football , fans or anything else, all she wants is money for he little project and being the Queen Bee, with her cucumber, prawn, cavier sandwiches, and Brut champagne, what she should doing is showing the corporate member pie & mash, and liquor, jellied eels, ham sarnies, and a good old pint of beer, the right for those to see how we fans live and breathe West Ham United.
Sullivan & Gold, my feelings are they have an ulterior plan, what that is im not sure, but time will tell, new owners foreign or otherwise i dont know. Back the the hardcore fans and new fans get behind the Hammers and show the we do really care and love the team…………..Ritchie

I thought Ayew did ok but Slav felt he wasn’t ready coming back from a long injury.
The atmosphere was weirdly flat after a month of good results in October.Even at our peak lady year we only drew at home with Stoke. The real pain is the results from Hull and Boro.Adrian’s clanger cost us the chance to rise five places and I am inclined to agree a change in keeper to show no one has a guaranteed place in the team.

Well it seems we’re all looking for something positive to say but , nobody can come up with anything . One positive thing though is , we didn’t lose . A point is a point albeit a poor performance that earned it . A better team than Stoke would have shredded us . We all know it . It’s been like standing on dog poo with every step so far this season ( apart from the EFL cup , which is a big positive in reality ) what with fan trouble , seating , standing , flare ups in the terraces , injuries , wrong team selection , Manager getting the tactics a bit wrong and bad summer transfers . Even Payet is off the boil . And the sterile stadium which looks like a jar of Bovril isn’t helping none either .
All we can do in reality is get behind the team and make loads of noise on match days and hope it filters down to the players . If the team loses support then it is doomed to failure no matter how hard they try . There have been more than just a few utterings of fans being unhappy with Slaven Bilic of late . Well ; it is his job to sort it out on the pitch but , it is our job as fans to help him .

Well said about our role as fans, too many people at matches and forums complain about this ( and did when we were at UP) as if doing anything about it was beyond our control.

These forums are strange, from chronic whingers to over optimistic idealists. The facts are all that matter, the Boleyn is gone and the LS is here to stay we and the players better get used to it. The football is poor and the results are not good enough, we are hovering just above relegation zone with a tough programme to come. I for one am glad we have a break before Arsenal because I actually agree it is becoming a chore.

  • Tone not Tore says:

Lol Pop,theres a big difference between being an over optimistic idealist or just not having a grumpy nature.
Anyway this sterile, quiet atmosphere stuff is a joke, its as if the boleyn was always a cauldron of noise.Christ sometimes it was so quiet i swear you could hear the pigeons fart!!

  • jimbo says:

Tone is right and what short memories we have. The atmosphere at the Boleyn wasn’t always like our last season now was it? Remember those games under BFS and Avrim? Time for a reality check.

So this weekend I’ve seen lots of bad news and we didn’t even lose. Payet wants away in January, Zaza wants to stay, Ayew is crap cos he didn’t score in his first real game, suddenly Fernandes can’t cut it. And the icing on the cake – China Doll is nearly fit! Think I’m off to the shed with my rope.

Bloody hell the C&H Facebook page must be sponsord by The Samaritans lmao
Whats to be depressed about our next five matches are only the spuds, manure twice, arsenal & liverpool.Easy 😀

I was really tempted to punch a few of our home supporters on Saturday, whingeing by singing that they want to go home like spoilt little brats and that Stratford si a sh1t hole… jeez UP was like a third world country in comparison, if they don’t like their new home give up their season tickets stop moaning about something that isn’t going to change, I thought the atmosphere was the best I have experienced so far at a league game and an afternoon kick off at that. Looked to me like everyone was singing especially about the 114 which can be taken two ways of course but it United the crowd, it was the team that let us down and they need to pull their fingers out, more hard training during the international break and Fletcher starts from now onwards COYI !!!
