We all live so intensely in a West Ham bubble it’s sometimes difficult to see what’s going on around us particularly when things are going as badly as recently.
Last season’s champions Leicester City are currently sitting just two points above us and only one point better off, whilst one weekend victory by Palace – their first in eight games – lifted them to 13th place from 16th and the pressure was immediately off Alan Pardew …for now!
It’s going to be a highly interesting and informative week at the bottom, starting tonight at Middlesborough where Hull City are the visitors.
Boro are on the same 12 points as us having played one less game whilst Hull are a point below us in 19th. I think a draw might be my favoured option!
Then on Saturday as we come to the end of our brutal recent run of fixtures at Anfield – beaten in an amazing game yesterday by Bournemouth – there’s another fierce scrap between the lowlier clubs.
Bottom of the table Swansea – three points behind us meet 18th placed Sunderland who are one place and one position lower than the Irons whilst Hull entertain Palace.
Then of course we have Burnley and Hull (both at home) followed by Swansea and Leicester (away) – four games from which we could easily take maximum points.
I am expecting 10and agree with the manager that we will be in a far better position than we are right now.
We will hopefully have Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew up to full speed and Antonio and Cresswell back. Maybe it’s not as bleak as we are believing.
It’s Monday – come on let’s start the week with optimism, hope and a smile.
Perhaps it’s me Hugh and I am probably in a minority but I wonder if Hull winning and us going into the bottom 3 might be the kick up the backside the players, management and directors need to wake them up ?
