West Ham’s transfer window looks to be ready to ‘spring‘, if not ‘burst‘ into life any minute as the first signing is confirmed as being ‘imminent’.
So far this summer the club has drawn a blank with new players despite three high profile sales and several key departures leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad depleted with the Championship kicking off next weekend.
According to exWHUEmployee, the Hammers are on the cusp of bringing in a free signing to add depth to the squad and leadership in the dressing room. Without naming names, the insider believes West Ham are set to bring in an ‘experienced pro’ to add to Nuno’s squad depth.
So the guessing game begins. Most seasoned Hammers watchers suggest the smart money is on former Brighton defender Adam Webster – a centre back with a season of injury behind him, hopefully, and at 31 a useful back line addition to West Ham’s squad.

Adam Webster.. linked with a move to West Ham since Potter’s era
Alternatively former Leicester man Ricardo Pereira, again available on a free transfer – is seems as a ‘possible’ right back signing on a free’ – which could make sense if Aaron-Wan Bissaka’s time at London Stadium is ending as we suspect.
Neither eye catching, more a case of being ‘necessary’ squad additions.
Seen alongside reports that West Ham are going back a third time for Celtic’s Arne Engels, according to SKY Germany’s Florian Plettenberg who claimed on Monday that:
“Engels has already reached a verbal agreement with West Ham on a contract until 2031 and is now waiting for the two clubs to agree”
..This with West Ham having cleared the way with Freddie Potts’ transfer to fuel the budget for a midfield upgrade.
Combined, the situation does look as if, finally, the squad should be boosted in the next couple of days. Whilst there’s also a consensus that winger Manor Soloman from Tottenham is the most likely wide man to join, no new developments have slipped out into the public domain on that deal. Either way it seems we’ll all have someone else to focus on.. finally.. soon enough.
The defender in question is Joel Veltman at Brighton, he will be a very good signing for the club if it comes off
As the French journalist and critic Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr, once said in his journal Les Guêpes in January 1849. The more things change, the more they stay the same.. He wasn’t a West Ham fan by any chance, was he?
If it’s Adam Webster I don’t want to see another person defending this clown car recruitment regime
It’s Joel Veltman from Brighton
Correct
Three days from our first competitive game of the new season, and still nobody in. Worse still, we are now talking about repeating all of the mistakes of the recent past, with stories of old and broken signings. Does the boardroom actually realize what is going on?
Spending big money has not been all that successful, and produced a relegation team – Fullkrug, Kilman, Pablo, Todibo, Paqueta. Maybe looking for some free agents and bargains might yield a better outcome. If they have the right attitude — loyalty & team spirit, will to win, keep tip-top fit, concentrate hard, give 100% every match –we might have a better team than last season. Four of the five mentioned above did not display those things.
The season starts next weekend so no rush to get the players in…..
Im hoping theyve got a master plan and once we get the 1st signing on board the others fall into place, but hey this is West Ham so im not going to hold my breath
We really are tight and the laughing stock even amongst our own fans Let alone the rest of football We are down here for a very long time take Wolves Wrexham Southampton Burnley just a few all spent money W Ham are so cocksure and complacent WE HAVE A BIG SHOCK COMING OUR WAY
Sorry apart from Engels and Solomon, hardly anything to build a team fit for a return to the PL. Why would we go near anyone with the injury record of Webster. We learnt nothing and really get what we deserve at club level.
Wow free 30 something free transfers , where is Engels where is Parrott . We can’t say we can’t spend some money are the board stupid ! Too slow to get players in , I am not a happy hammer at the moment
mouthwatering….
All Hail the new West Ham!
