Five out, five in

|

jussiThe end of season of the Premier League season marks the end of contracts for Jussi  Jaaskelainen, Carlton Cole and Guy Demel all of which expire on 30th June.

Loanees Alex Song, Nene and Carl Jenkinson are also at the end of their loan periods at the end of May and will automatically return to their parent clubs. In addition to first team squad, young left back Dan Potts and keeper Raphael Spiegel are unlikely to be offered new contracts by the Hammers.

Jussi, Cole, Demel, Nene and Song are the most likely first team outbound players – releasing around £200,000 per week off the wage bill or £10m plus per year.  These wages will be re-invested in summer signings with an estimated further £25m on transfer fees available to a new manager.
Likely summer signings are a goalkeeper as backup for Adrian, a further loan for Carl Jenkinson or a permanent right back , a striker to replace Cole, a utility defender player to replace Demel and two midfielders to replace Song and Nene positions.

I think we would need more players than that to progress Hugh.

  • Quickdraw says:

I think we may need more and could do with losing a few more. Sean, any ideas on Tony Henry’s buying/selling powers with no manager in situ?

  • Robbie says:

Yes we do need more players, we also need legends not heroes, which we haven`t had in a very long time! Heroes come and go… but legends are forever!

  • Michael Miller says:

Potts is lined up to go to Luton according to my paper.

I’d expect Joey O’Brien, Kevin Nolan and Matt Jarvis all to be moved on in addition to those mentioned.

  • bubs says:

You have got to add O,Brien and Nolan to that list if need be keep Potts instead of O,Brien
If Nolan won’t go send him on loan or let him get his coach badge helping Dicksy,
Right Back very important,Creative Midfielder next and a new centre Forward to add to Sakho,Valencia and Lee
There will be plenty out there to fill the gaps after that all free

Don’t mean eat Navajo should had said curry,

  • kennycandb says:

Matte. If you are right (and I pray that you are) and those 7 leave, me thinks we will need at least 9 coming in. The new man also needs to substantially improve fitness levels and mental approach – we have a long season ahead.lol

  • mattefumi says:

ahah… I know kenny, we have a long season ahead, a revolutionary seson, a wonderful adventure! lol as you say at least 9 coming in: some West Ham Youth and some new purchases… with the money we’ll make from the Seven Dwarfs, it’s a pretty good score. 😉 West Ham: work in progress. lol

  • bobmann says:

    Don’t worry.
Zarate and Maiga are coming back.

  • BrookingtoDevonshire says:

I think we’re going to need more than £25M especially if we have a top name manager lined up.
£50M would be a more realistic figure needed.

  • bubs says:

If Jarvis is worth 5 million Nolan1 million, that’s it we will need to add min 44 to that
If Bernitez gets the job he will want to add another 50 million to that,
The board have got to relies he comes with more than a wage he does not hang around for youth development, and wants instant results

    • mattefumi says:

I agree Bubs, that’s why I would now prefer managers like Howe, Bilic, Emery, De Boer or even Bielsa: OM is a young team.
