Forgotten Hammer time is nearing the end

|

Toni Martinez made his first appearance in over a month for Lugo in Spain’s Segunda Division, playing for the final 23 minutes as a substitute in the club’s goalless draw at Extremadura. Lugo need one win from their final two matches at home to Tenerife and away at Gimnastic if they are to avoid relegation to Segunda Division B.

The Spanish striker has become a bit of a forgotten man at West Ham having spent the most part of the last two seasons away on loan having made his name from goals for the Hammers U23s.

Martinez was on loan at two Spanish sides this season, Raya Majadahonda and CD Lugo and has found regular game time, making 27 appearances in La Liga 2 across the season, scoring three times.

His contract with West Ham ends this summer and he is expected to be named in those released this summer when the released and retained lists are published on 7th June.
