Hammer linked in Bundesliga move

|

Hammers midfielder Edimilson Fernandes completed his loan spell with Fiorentina by playing the full 90 minutes in La Viola’s goalless home draw with Geona on the final day of the Serie A season. Despite finishing with a positive goal difference and conceding fewer goals than any club outside the top seven, Fiorentina’s failure to win any of their final 14 matches saw them drop down the table to finish in 16th place, just three points above relegated Empoli.

Fernandes ended his loan spell having played 33 times in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering two assists as Fiorentina also reached the semi-finals of the Italian Cup.

Last week the agent of Fernandes has said the midfielder would be interested in a permanent move to Fiorentina once his loan there ends. Fiorentina have an £8m option to buy in place if a permanent move were to take place.

However, in a  new report in the Sun newspaper this evening claims the Switzerland international has agreed terms on a Bundesliga move after three seasons in the Premier League.

The article suggests he is heading to Mainz in an £8m deal.

Hugh I am not sure where else to post this – so apologies for being slightly off topic

I like Fernandes for his energy and passing but if Pelle does not really fancy him then it would be good to get a decent fee – 8 million is not bad

Now for my off topic point – it seems to me that WHU are abouth the only club who have made fairly public the transfer budget for next season. Why do we do this? Would it not be better to keep our cards close to our chest? Otherwise e.g. in the case of Gomes other clubs can just say – oh WHU are going to offer at most this amount so we can trump them
