Foxes v Irons – THE RATINGS

|

ClaretandHugh’s Niall McDonald rates the Irons

aaroncresswell-e1444287834803Adrian: No chance with either of the shots Leicester managed to get on target 5
Cresswell:  Looked our most comfortable defender today and a fantastic strike 7
Reid:  Looked off the pace again and no doubt relieved to see the back of Vardy. 5
Ogbonna: Relished the physical battles. Played Huth at his own game and he didn’t like it 7
Antonio:  Caught upfield when Leicester broke for their first. Offset that with his run and cross to set up Cresswell 5
Obiang:  Dropped off far too much as Leicester poured forward, leaving Vardy well onside for his goal 4
Noble: Barely touched the ball. Booked. Subbed. All with Roy Hodgson looking on. 4
Kouyate: Tested the goal line technology was working in the first few minutes. Best of our central trio 6
Payet: Set pieces aside, a peripheral figure 4
Moses: A day when he was unable, or not asked, to use his pace in attack 4
Emenike: Anyone think he’d last the full 90? 4

Subs:
Carroll: Another goal from the impact sub. Excellent penalty. Conceded a very soft one at the other end 6
Lanzini: Offered no more than those who had gone before 4
Valencia: Lost possession in stoppage time and seconds later they had their penalty   2

Adrian: Chose the wrong side on the penalty. Other than that nothing to do but for Vardy’s gaol. But doesn’t give the impression of greatness he had before. 6
Cresswell: Excellent in all ways today. 8
Reid: Looks alost at times. Another one who doesn’t show greatness (or confidence?) like before. 5
    Ogbonna: Excellent, like Cress. 8.
Antonio: Yes, he was caught on Vardy’s goal, but he isn’t a right back. Why not use Byram and push Antonio up ? 6
Obiang:at fault on Vardy’s goal. Vardy should not be left unmarked, and Obiang hesitated between marking and playing offside. Lost most of his challenges in midfield. A very very bad day for him. Worse contribution since he’s been here. 3
Noble: Did not do much wrong, did not do much right. Forget Woy’s presence, who wasn’t here for Noble anyway. 5.
Kouyate: Worked a lot, did not shine as he should. 6
Payet: Not decisive. Can pull a rabbit out of his hat at anytime, just did not happen today. 5. Moses: Showed why he will not be here next year. 2.
Emenike: To his credit, was slaughtered, punched, wrestled to the ground over and over again by Brute, with the ref doing nothing about it. Should have been more active on the two posts phase and push the ball in. He was unmarked but just stood staring. 4.

    Subs:
Carroll: Game changer when he came on. Leicester started panicking. Although the last second penalty was not one, it still was a clumsy challenge and he should have contained himself. Cost us two points. 5.
Lanzini: Showed why he was on the bench. 2.
Valencia: Showed why he should not be here next year. Clumsy, lazy, headless. When you lose the ball so stupidly seconds away from the end, at least make an effort to get it back before it gets to the penalty box. 0. <— this means ZERO.

On another note, yet another abysmal refereeing, and the foxes will say it wasn’t a sendng off for Vardy and it was not a Morgan penalty on Reid bla bla bla.

This is how I see it. Leiciester spend a lot of time kicking, pushing, punching, wasting time when they lead, and they get away with it. So they keep on doing it. Vardy, besides normally behaving like a thug (a la Naismith or Cattermole or Charlie Adam) has started to act like a diva, thinking he is like Ronaldo, untouchable. The sending off was correct. And for the Penalty on Reid, there had been lots of holding and pushing and punching in the Leicester area. The ref had called Brute and Morgan more than once. Then you have Reid going to the first post and Morgan holding him all along. What do you expect ? To me, Penalty. But where was the second yellow for Morgan ? This is where the ref showed he is a coward. And a very very average ref, who needs to go away. He allowed too many repetitive fouls by Leicester, and then blows a foul at the last second to compensate, but forgot to yellow the Brute for all his fouls, his irate protests during the match, and the insults at the conclusion of the game (Brute clearly insulted the ref at the conclusion before being dragged by one of his team mates.).

So, once again we get the short end of the stick, and it is really tiring me. Too many of these stop being a coincidence. Something has to change.

We went to the top of the league and played well,Vardy should have gone with Huth,
Their goal should never have been as we should have fphad a pen before,
Valencia should have cleared the ball before their winner,
All in all not that bad so how do all these players get such silly low scores,
People are expecting to much to quickly,
The only things that came out of this game is Emineke and Moses are not stayers,
Kouyate is our only 100% every game performer,
Cresswell and Antonio deliver the best balls into the area without fuss
We now can’t loose any more points if we are going to stop Liverpoor stealing our 6th place
But good Entertainment to watch again just 95 minute pen in a 94 minute game to Fukc it up

Emenike didn’t look like he was up to the over-physical approach of Morgan and Huth – bottled it a bit!

Moses was weak and ineffective, giving the ball away continuously!

Valencia was his normal useless self, weak, weak, weak!

On a positive note (for a change!) Antonio is wasted at full-back, his strength and energy are fantastic but having him flogging up and down the line is asking too much – play him wide right and forget about Moses and Valencia (useless pair!) – Tomkins or Byram at right-back is fine!

F@ckin hell I’m glad I don’t have to read your marks often.Anyone would think we had just lost 10-0 against a team like Villa.Appreciated everyone has an opinion but some of those marks are pants.

  • essexclarets says:

Emenike’s loan has been another expensive waste of time & money
Valencia has been a £12m failure, has never really lived up to his potential..
i think i must have seen one of the softest penalty ever given.. if every ref gave a penalty for that then there would be a dozen every match.

  • mooro66uk says:

Hugh i know you’r disappointed but so are we all but i think you’re being a bit mean .with some of your ratings.

  • bubs says:

Mind you if he gave one for every judo throw it would be 10 a side
It’s getting more like rugby at corners and ballet every time a forward goes near the box,
Not one West Ham player except for Valencia deserved lower the a 5
Emineke a 6 the rest 7 or more,
We went to the top of the league and got a draw which with out the ref would have been a win
But we are not getting relegated we had entertainment to watch what’s not to like

  • keeno1990 says:

I think a lot of those are a bit harsh. if im gold and sullivan id be thinking ‘were chelsea really going to offer us 20 million for valencia?’. we should be looking to sell in the summer, not going to be good enough the direction were heading in im afraid.
