Ref Moss makes himself man of the match

|

Leicester City 2 Irons 2

Jonathan_Moss_refI’m not sure when refs decided they should become rock stars but it was too soon.

For this afternoon Mr Jonathon Moss made himself the man of this crazy match a with some bizarre decisions which looked at one time as if it would result in finally giving West Ham what they have been missing all season – some in their favour deserved or otherwise.

Then he wrecked everything by handing out the softest penalty in the world to possible champions-elect City with just seconds of injury time left.

What we saw was no more than a coming together of Andy Carroll and Jeffrey Schlupp but Moss immediately pointed to the spot and Leonardo Ulloa thrashed home the spot kick with the final whistle sounding immediately afterwards.

It honestly looked to have been given as a result of Moss handing the Irons a spot kick on 84 mins when Reid was brought down in a goalmouth tugging affair with  Wes Morgan off the ball.

AC made no mistake and the other AC, Aaron Creswell thumped home a glorious effort two minutes later after great work down the right from Michail Antonio.

The Foxes took the lead through Jamie Vardy who fired home a left foot shot, later picked up a yellow card and was finally red carded for a second when clearly diving in the box early in the second half.

Slaven Bilic was gutted by the result as was every Iron. We were never at our best but City huffed and puffed, often to little effect and the Cresswell goal alone was worthy of winning the game.

It left us in sixth place and still with a big shout of a European finishing position but in truth the ref should never have handed the Foxes that final penalty and was accompanied from the pitch by plenty of security.

If this season has shown one thing very seriously indeed it’s that refs alone can no longer be trusted with decision making alone.

The ref gathered a lot of moss this afternoon but I’ll tell you what – he’s no Rolling Stone.

in todays day and age referees should be able to quickly consult a video replay panel of some kind before making penalty or red card, game changing decisions. Referees are caught up in the heat of the battle whereas someone up in the stands or watching a video replay can make a calm assessment and advise the referee accordingly to stop him from making obvious mistakes.

The Pens were correct even if the last one came a minute over time,
The Vardy goal should never have been as it was a pen for the push by Huth before the clearance,
Huth should have gone with Vardy but probably Ogbonna joining them,
2-2 was probably a fair result on play,
Emineke and Valencia at the moment are not worthy of our bench,
Lanzini and Payet have both gone off the boil and seem to be effected by our bad run of draws,
I still prefer Antonio on the right wing and it’s time to give youth a chance Byram and Oxford
    Need runs now
Cresswell and Ogbonna looked class but Reid is still not performing well

Agree bubs particularly about getting Oxford on the pitch.Look at what Klopp is doing with Liverpool. The youth are being given a go and it’s paying dividends already. All bodes well for their future.

Same old crap ! Referees have destroyed our season in the last 7 games , it cannot be defended but make no mistake it hasn’t stopped just yet , ? Liverpool and the mancs will finish above us now ,
Although we have had a great season , expect a clear out in the summer ! At least 5 IMO if we are to progress even further !
The players must feel pretty down with all these dodgy decisions , it looks to have affected one or two ?
Time for video!!! To stop the celeb refs ! The FA have made a statement that a certain ref will not referee a certain game because of his place of birth and he may influence bias ?
But to call a ref a cheat or bias is not allowed because they are pure as white ?
Now we know that is not the case , ! The FA has said so ? Its bent !
For me its left a sour taste in what was a great season now being systematically destroyed !
As a paying supporter I feel cheated ! Mugged by clowns !
The question is , will it be changed next year , video and a 3rd umpire is needed but don’t hold you’re breath !

Please let the prem league tell eufa and fifa we are introducing video technology next year. What can they do? It’s our league and i’m sure that if we lead the way other leagues will follow. Are we not in charge of our own game?

  • mooro66uk says:

Bubs hate to disagree with ya but shoulder to shoulder with no blatant aggression is not a foul. so no pen. ref looking to balance decisions and not be unpopular

  • bubs says:

Take another look without the claret glasses 66 I don’t like admitting we gave a pen away but it was the trouble is Valencia had plenty of time to clear the ball and stood with his thumb up his arse, Carroll should never have been defending there with them only having ten men,
The fact that it was 1 minute over extra time did not help,
But hey ho the FA have what they want spuds catching Leicester,
Liverpoor catching us every game,Manure creeping away from us,
Carroll would have had to kneel down to shoulder against shoulder

    • WHU647580 says:

Never a pen bubs….if it is we’re looking at 6 a game plus another 6 for all the holding in the box.

I’m glad AC was tracking back…..the real problem was the really poor effort by Valencia who should’ve just whacked it upfield.

  • Stinger says:

How can anyone say the second penalty was correct. It was one of the worse decisions I have ever seen. Every pundit has stated the same, even Leicester fan Lineker and Anti West Ham man Lawrenson. Even LC fans have been calling the phone-ins and saying it was a wrong call.

https://streamable.com/b1by Carroll winning the ball cleanly.

Carroll clearly wins the ball. Not a penalty, but a very good tackle.

As for the time awarded. It was under 4 minutes on the clock and there was a minimum of 4 minutes stoppage time added on.

Think you are having a right stinker here bubs.

  • mooro66uk says:

I always thought that if you win the ball and show no aggression it’s a fair challenge.Even if you collide afterwards.

  • RickHammer says:

It wasn’t a penalty,Moss was looking to even things up.Ain’t seen a single report or heared a single pundit (unless I missed it) who believed it was a penalty. It wasn’t,it is that simple in my view.I would have had no arguments had he given a pen against Oggy with his arm round Huths neck but the Carroll/Schlupp one was a joke.

    • Dunlopilo says:

It was a clear “compensation” decision. Moss probably wanted to calm the crowd, which was very belligerent, before leaving the pitch (and stadium). That in itself shows this guy cannot continue refereeing at this level.
