Free agent post stirs speculation

West Ham supporters online have speculated on the meaning of a ‘Crossed Hammers’ emoji posted by Christian Benteke on Instagram

Benteke is soon to be a free agent when his contract with Crystal Palace expires on June 30th this summer.

The 30-year -old Crystal Palace striker has been offered a new two-year contract to remain at Selhurst Park but is yet to decide on his future and could will look for a new club.

Benteke scored six goals in the remaining 11 Premier League games of the season, including in each of the last four games of the campaign. He finished off with 11 goals across his 33 appearances in all competitions. Benteke has been selected by Roberto Martinez as part of Belgium’s 26-man squad for the continental competition.

Palace paid £27million for the Belgium international, with a further £5million in potential add-ons, but following a successful first season featuring 15 Premier League goals, Benteke has struggled at Palace.
