Full steam ahead for Europa Conference League

|

West Ham can now solely focus on winning the UEFA Europa Conference League following our epic win over Manchester United at The London Stadium.

Said Benrahma’s winning goal may well have been a fortunate daisy cutter (we used to call them ‘pea rollers’ when I was a kid) but who cares? West Ham deservedly won the game despite some decidedly dodgy VAR calls, and we’re now all but safe from Premier League relegation.

I’ll save the congratulatory back-slapping for another day but the result was a huge relief and now allows the club to focus their undivided attention into the Europa Conference League .

The Hammers face anther year of transition with numerous players out of contract and some surplus to requirements. Manager David Moyes faces an uncertain future and captain Declan Rice has decided to leave for pastures new.

However I do believe that the club will now be able to look forward to winning a trophy irrespective of next seasons destinations. Declan Rice in particular will be able to compartmentalise this campaign from his forthcoming transfer to drive the team to victory.

Dec will want to leave on a high and the experience of being in a semi-final last season will serve the team well. Most importantly the league position will allow the club to approach the European fixtures without the burden of relegation weighing on their shoulders.

I’d imagine the training ground will feel like a a completely different place this week. It can’t have been easy for the squad turning up for work each day with the shadow of The Championship looming in the distance.

But now the players can look forward to enshrining themselves into West Ham history and I’m sure they can’t wait.

Gonzo, I love C&H but hope you will get off Moyes back, for the next few weeks at least until this season has concluded. While this season has often been very stressful, it could yet be our most successful for 40+ years. Success is a marathon not a sprint and I fear that if the ‘sack Moyes’ brigade get their way because they want to run faster then we could well end up tripping over our own shoelaces.

I agree with you Jeremy but C&H writers are all completely one sided Moyes out brigade so asking them to get off Moyes back would mean they wouldn’t have much left to write about lol.
