Furious Gold in new plea

|

Gold2David Gold is again pleading for the introduction of new technology after the shocking sending off of Aaron Cresswell.

The co chairman has been a long term advocate of a link between an off pitch adjudicator and the referee and Martin Atkinson’s terrible decision to red card our left back appars to back him to the hilt.

Cressie will miss the Sunderland game after two entirely false yellow cards and Gold has not been slow to make his anger known.

Speaking on Twitter he said: “Just before the ref gave Aaron a red card he spoked to an official who did not have access to slow motion replay, like the rest of us. dg

“Millions of us got it right because we had the benefit of a simple TV but the officials got it wrong because they don’t. Embarrassing. dg

“I’m against stoping the game but a ‘buddy’ ref with a TV and radio link would reduce bad decisions without effecting the flow of the game dg”

It’s not the technology it’s the Refs, the system is wrong,
The first booking should be looked at by a panel, not only did he not dive ( goodbye Yellow ) but we should have had a pen,
The second I think would stand as he had his arm across the player and was always going to be second,
The ref could have changed the whole game,we would have been 2. Up end of match and played with 11 for the last 15 min,
Worse is we now have to play without our game changer,
This is one of many strange decisions I saw over 6 games at the weekend and some the refs were with in 2 feet of the incidents,
Some refs seem to make so many calls on which team is at home, which is seen as a better side, who is winning,
How much pressure the players put on them,
If they can’t do the job they should move over,
We should have a school for pro refs,

I’m sorry but if think what Cres done for the second yellow should be a yellow I fear for what will happen to the game with more like minded people. Zaha goes down easily everyone knows that he was half way down when his arm went across. Yeah I agree it probably was a foul but a yellow card an absolutely disgraceful decision.

Most of us agree DG now see if you can get the FA to trial it !

I’m at a loss as to why you can’t appeal a yellow – if it’s a wrong decision it’s a wrong decision, especially if results in a player being sent off. West Ham have been really screwed by the system!

Of course Video Technology can assist the Ref, but the problem is where do you draw the line :-
Was it a goal? Yes of course.
Was it a Penalty? Yes probably.
Was it a thrown in? Probably not.
Was it a Corner? Well, rough with the smooth.
When do you stop the play?
How far do you go back?

A whole can of worms – and a lot more controversy!

The problem with it, if you could appeal a yellow card how many clubs could appeal every weekend? A red card lets be honest aren’t always very common. However a yellow card, a game could have loads. So West Ham has 5 yellow cards we want to appeal 3 of them, Man Utd get 4 yellow cards want to appeal them all, Arsenal get 3 want to appeal them all. So a panel has to look at 10 incidents from 3 games that’s not including the other 7 games imagine there’s 2 games in a week and that’s not even including the football league.

A ref who has video technology probably should be bought in and maybe use a system like they do in tennis where you get 3 chances per game to use it and if its correct you keep all 3 and if it’s wrong you only have 2 left.

when watching on the tv we have the benifit of replays, but after seeing them the camars go back to the live coverage and still the game has not re-started so why cant an official radio to the ref in that time and tell him he got it wrong. there would not be any time wasted or slow up the game with appeals.
lets face it tv camaras are at all the prem games and a lot of others.
    just a thought

Sky has the benefit of Howard Webb and whatever incident he is asked to look at,albeit with the advantage of slow motion admittedly,he will answer almost immediately and so I go along with DG on this one!

  • baddowhammer says:

Such technology is available and of high quality, but others are saying where will it end, with a throw in decision? Of course not only game changing decisions, ie pens, red cards, sending offs of any kind.Again a bit of common sense is required from those supposedly educated big wigs at the top.COYI

Pretty much the same debate as was had prior to the introduction of replays and the TV officials for that game played with an egg. If that clown Atkinson had been shown a big screen replay of Cressie being hacked in their area, we would have gone two up and no yellow. And all done and dusted inside 90 seconds!

  • WestGoaHam says:

Red cards should be appealable in respect of how they were arrived at. Refs are paid employees and should be accountable for their actions. Tin ’em!
