Gale tells the board to spend big!

|

Tony Gale has told the Hammers board that David Moyes has done enough to be appointed as the permanent Hammers boss.

The former central defender presented what Sky Sports described as his “blueprint for the club” saying: “He has done what they asked him to do and now they have to appoint a manager.

“It’s a case of backing the man or getting somebody else in.”

Gale also explained that they need a recruitment man in place explaining that at this moment all they have is a recruitment agency looking to appoint such a person.

He told SSN: “There’s not enough football know-how in the club and it’s a little bit of a shambles which needs to be organised.”

He added: “They are talking about making a £43 million profit and I believe it may be as high as £100 million when the next accounts come out. We have to see how much cash they are ready to spend – they have to splash big.

“They have to make marquee signings rather than loan signings. The fans want to see good footballers playing good football.”

If I owned the club, I don’t think I would want to be taking advice from Tony Gale.

  • Hammerkip says:

If they don’t spend big this summer they are going to have a big problem with the fans after this mess of a season…Gayle is right in the sense that they have to buy decent marquee signings and not penny pinch loans ..it’s time to stand up and be counted Sullivan if you don’t then God help you 🙅🙅🙅💷💷💷

I’ve never seen a club 5th from bottom buy decent marquee signings. Most decent players go to top clubs in Europe. You should apply for the managers job and show us how its done.

Here we go again e20 why do you take my posts so personally I’m just putting my opinion there that’s all ..if you don’t like it then no problem but there is no need for silly insults.. It’s just my opinion.. I may not like yours but I respect it .. Plse keep your silly comment to urself I don’t want to go through this again ..

        • Stratford E20 says:

How can I take your posts personally? and I cannot see any silly insults. I do think that your comments are totally naive though. Do you really expect a lowly club like West Ham to attract Marquee signings? believing that sort of thing is why some fans are so screwed up – they expect top managers and players to sign for West Ham then moan when it doesn’t happen. You are so sensitive.

          • Hammerkip says:

I really have no time for you due to the insults a few months back that’s why I don’t comment on your posts so the best thing is just leave me with my opinions if you don’t like it then fine just stop the silly digs ..as I’ve said before I’ve no time for stupid personal comments if you don’t like what I’ve said….end of

What I see is a club management out of step with supporter expectations.

Maybe the board’s business plan is to be an Everton and hover between 8th and 18th to stay in the Premiership but not challenge for trophies. After all, that would mean a bigger squad, better players with higher transfer fees and wages instead of churning profits.

Moyes is a steady hand and will keep us up, but he is not a trophy winner. Appointing him means mid-table sanctuary and points for safety around the end of March, but he won’t set the league on fire.

Clearly supporters – including me – want to challenge for trophies, but I just can’t see the money coming to make that happen. For that we need a Mourinho, a three -year plan and pots of cash….but that’s a dream that’s fading and dying.

    • Innocuous Sparrow says:

Don’t you mean supporter expectations out of step with reality?

      • Stratford E20 says:

Spot on. I do find our expectations embarrassing. There are other clubs in much worse situations that us but its always West Ham and Newcastle fans moaning.

I think some fans ( or a lot ) are out of touch with reality and are expecting too much .
We can’t suddenly just become a consistent top six or top half of the table Club . We need to restructure and recruit . That will take some serious organization and a quality recruitment plan . There has been far too much upheaval over the past two years for it to suddenly just heal itself . Personally , I would like to see Moyes given a decent chance . We can’t boast a big fantastic quality squad and given our recent brush with relegation there won’t be too many top notch players willing to chance a move to the LS . We have to search very carefully for the right players who are willing to have a go and be proud to wear the West Ham shirt . Even then , a top eight finish will be difficult . It’s not as if just a couple of top sighnings will do it for us . We need at least four . ( yes there are always players we can let go ) . We are not a massive Club and must cut our cloth accordingly . I know Moyes has been compared with other managers in the Premiership and those other clubs have had a good season but , those other managers and clubs didn’t have West Ham’s problems .
It’s time to make the LS our home and give the club the chance it deserves . There are a lot of one time big clubs languishing in the lower divisions who were , at Thier height bigger than West Ham . At least we are still in the Premiership . Now we must set our sites on being a better Premiership club . But not over-expectant . We know we can improve greatly but it will be step by step , not in leaps and bounds .
COYHAMMERS. a win over Man Utd would give us all a very welcomed boost .

    Kevin the board pa speaks.
We need to restructure and plan.. do you trust this board to be able to do that effectively given their record and lack of spend ?
It you think the fans are over expectant who is to blame? The one and very same board and owners who made promises / lies about the stadium move.
Since then we have gone backwards and they at the same time have made a profit. Are we supposed to be grateful we are not Leeds utd or villa? They have only left that outcome to chance this season.

No one expects us to be top 6 next season, but for a club that can pull in 60000 fans with ease yes we deserve alot better than the amateurish way we are currently run. Unless they seriously buck up or go we will be the next Leeds.

    • Stratford E20 says:

I’m sure that you already know Chek but Leeds are where they are because the spent too much money on players that they could not afford. Its the very thing that our fans want us to do now and the thing that the Icelandic’s did to almost ruin us.

  • Chek says:

Ok firstly I used Leeds as an example of a big club stuck in the championship not how they got there as such.
Secondly the Icelandics were bankers and the entire banking system in iceland collapsed. I think that’s the reason rather than overspending on players!

So you think we spend enough now and anyone asking for more is overspending??

Haha check the facts. We spent less than 75% of clubs in the league the last couple of years, in fact made a profit but have been in a relegation fight all season. These are not coincidences.

Most fans want us to spend more because if we don’t this will happen again and we will be relegated.

You tell me which would bring more ruin?
