Game changer Yarmo wins it for courageous Irons

West Ham 3 Chelsea 2

Magnificent!

That was unreal and probably the best game of the Premier League restart – a five goal thriller in which the Irons showed all the guts , courage determination and balls we have seen from them in a long long time.

It means we did the double over Lampard’s lot for the first time in 17 years but far more important pushed us into 16th place three points clear of the bottom three which, with the superior goal difference, is the equivalent to four points.

Tomas Soucek saw his first goal for the club ruled out by VAR because Antonio’s head was offside for God’s sake – what on earth has this game come to?

Chelsea went to the other end and scored from the penalty spot after a bad Diop foul. Back comes Soucek to head home an equaliser and six minutes into the second half Antonio gives us a lead, equalised by a Wilian free kick 21 minutes later.

But with a minute of normal time to go,  a sweeping move from the Hammers saw sub Yarmolenko cut inside and fire home a fabulous left foot shot to give us one of the biggest wins in our recent history.

The win was achieved without help from Mark Noble who has a hamstring and frankly – sad to say  – we looked a better team across the middle as a result.

Soucek had by far his most effective game for us and Dec led the team as skipper brilliantly,.

No words of mine can sufficiently explain the excitement of this truly thrilling win which has set us up perfectly for thje run in and dispersed so much gloom. Effectively it means three points from our first three games.

The key was an inspired substitution which saw game changer Yarmolenko in a rich vein of form whilst Jack Wilshere also got a cameo performance and looked perfectly okay.

A very good night indeed.

COME ON YOU IRONS

Totally agree we were brilliant…I just hope we can carry with this sort of desire and work rate..but a cracking win, let’s enjoy it ,we all deserve something cheer about. 👏👏👏👍🙏🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♀️

My God I welled up at the final whistle! So bloody proud of them. Ironically I recently posted my concern that we lacked the grit in some positions. I referred to Anderson and Mano and still worry there but the rest were absolutely heroic. Sadly for Nobes we looked better without him tonight. We’ll done lads – proud to be put in my place tonight.

He may have hardly played but that is why you pay big money for a player who can do that.Massive win and huge confidence booster. Its what being a Hammers fan is all about. If any of us had said before kick off we were going to bang in 3 v inform Chelsea tonight they would have got the straight jackets out for us.

You called for him to start and I agreed… If he is healthy he gives us great quality. He could be the difference and I think we should keep hold of him! COYI⚒

Deserved 3 points, starting to look capable of troubling opposition. Fitness is improving after a slow restart to the campaign. Onwards and upwards. 🙂

More than very happy to have been proved wrong, when I said that West Ham would lose to Chelsea. We still have to look over our shoulders but this brilliant performance should give the team a lift, & the confidence to win at least 3 of the remaining games. There should be no reason that we can avoid relegation now – apart from incorrect VAR decisions !. Congratulations to Moyse & the players – well done; & keep it up !

Well deserved 3 points. Good all-round team effort especially after another VAR fiasco. Antonio was immense. Ogbonna was superb and Rice and Soucek worked so well together in the middle. That’s the standard all fans expect for the rest of the season. Pleased for the players, the management and especially for all Hammers everywhere. Glad I predicted a win on here yesterday. COYI

  • Mikey says:

Moyes setting up the win with his impact substitutions, and Yarmolenko back on the field and massive contribution. Very good night, indeed! Maybe our fortunes are turning at last. COYI!

  • Kevin says:

So , no credit to David Moyes ?!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Glad to see Moyes make good substitutions, the ball from Antonio to Yarmo was outstanding and the finish was perfection. Time to focus now and keep improving 😀

  • Roman says:

Wasn’t all that long ago the keyboard experts had him labelled too slow and ready for departure.
