Contacts within the Ghana international management team known to Claret and Hugh have emphatically confirmed that Kudus will not start for the Hammers against Brighton tomorrow. There have been those who have refused to believe that Ghana is in a position to demand his absence from the West Ham team but that is completely wrong.

A senior member of the Ghana international team set up made it clear to us exclusively that they have demanded he does not play and that he will not be available to us again until Ghana’s involvement in Afcon is completed.

It seems an astonishing situation that he and presumably Nayef Aguerd – over whom sickness has been claimed – are not permitted to play for the club that pays them fortunes before Afcon commences. But sadly that is the case.

It means we will be without the No 14, Lucas Paqueta and Aguerd – three key players for a very difficult game as he bid to achieve a League double over them having beaten them early in the season leaving David Moyes with some tricky selection problems.

This could easily be the Hammers team as a result: Areola, Coufal, Oggy ( who was excellent in the Arsenal game), Zouma, Emerson; Alvarez, Soucek, Ward-Prowse, Fornals, Benrahma, Bowen.
