David Gold has explained why no transfer fees have been quoted on either Lucas Perez and Edmilson Fernandes.
The Hammers co chairman has responded to Twitter questioning which implied the club had sold the pair on the cheap and that the club didn’t want anyone to know what they had received for the pair.
Both fees were undisclosed but in reality they managed to get about around £10.5 million. Gold explained the reason fees weren’t quoted was because the buying clubs and players didn’t want them made public.
He was asked: “You know the figure so why not disclose it on Twitter “ to which he replied: “It was at the player and the buying clubs request. dg
The question got numerous likes but Gold’s response received much support with some suggesting it should become par for the course adding that this may keep down the ridiculous prices being paid.
Edmilson is though to have been sold for £7 million and Lucas Perez for £3.5m
