Adrian produces a wonderful farewell message

|

Professional footballers don’t come back much better than Adrian in terms of great behaviour.

After six years at the club, the 32 year old will finally take up life with a new club this summer but few former Hammers have produced quite the goodbye that the Spaniard has presented to the fans today.

He provided many amazing moments in his Hammers prime and was entirely uncomplaining when things turned against him later.

First Darren Randolph was preferred before Joe Hart (sigh) and of curse the outstanding Lukasz Fabianski kept him in the West Ham shadows.

Many would hve been be happy to walk away with a wave to the crowd and a “thanks for the good times” message but not Adrian.

Instead he has worn his heart on his sleeve and produced a wonderful statement on a photo of himself (above) which demonstrates just how much this club has meant to him .

He explains how he had always hoped to remain with us in what is a really hearfelt statement on his time at the club.

CandH thanks him for the years and for this brilliant goodbye.

Players will always come and go, and often times after they’ve left, in the years to come we’ll be reminded of someone and say “do you remember him?”. But there are other players who leave and won’t be cast out of our memories like that, because, wherever they’ve come from, they form a connection with the club, and with us, and we love them for it. Adrian definitely falls into the latter category.

Adrian, you have been a great player for West Ham during your six year stint. Indeed, I cannot remember another player who has conducted himself with such dignity throughout. It is so sad to see you go, but as you say, football moves on. I, along with many other fans I am sure, wish you much success and happiness at whichever Club you now join. They will be lucky to have you. Your hard work, honesty and integrity has been a pleasure to behold. Be lucky, happy and healthy. I for one will not be forgetting your very special involvement with our Club.

I echo everybody else. He’s shown time and time again that he’s a class act. Hopefully he finds another great club to be part of.

Adrian – thank you for the leadership and motivation you gave to our team. My family will never forget you. And we will “never” forget that penalty shoot-out. Such a special moment that typified your courage and strength. Yes players do come and go, but we remember the players that leave some of their soul behind. And that you have certainly done that.

    All the best .
