Gold: “We got everyone we wanted”

|

Gold2David Gold has sent his congratulations to David Sulivan, Slaven Bilic and all concerned on what he has described as “one of the most remarkable transfer windows in our history”

And having tweeted his message he then spoke exclusively to ClaretandHugh about the last 24 hours declaring: “It’s certainly been an incredible 48 hours..

“It went very smoothly indeed and in the end we got everyone we wanted. That is so unusual and why I describe it in my tweet as remarkable.”

DG admitted that the club had needed strengthening and deepening adding: “Very few team go to places like Liverpool with as many youngsters on the bench as we had on Saturday.

“You have to have seasoned top players in the squad and we certainly have them now, it’s looking good.”

And recalling his recent words about the top clubs looking over their shoulders at West Ham he smiled: “I think that statement got taking very much the wrong way by some.

“I didn’t say we were about to break into their company, only that they would be looking over their shoulders as we grew. I think we did some more growing in this transfer window.”

Those dark days of Terence Brown when we waited in hope for much needed signings only to get nothing time after time seem a long time ago now. Fair play to the board.

Congratulations to the owners and management on putting together such a great squad . You have done WHUFC really proud and i look forward to an exciting last season at Upton Park and our new adventure at the O.S . with relish ! Can’t think any real fans have got anything to moan at now . COYI

  • bubs says:

There should be no moaning but the Austin lovers will have a pop about Jelivic,
I like the players we brought in but can not believe Reading got Ola John on loan,
Watching Antoinio 10 goals he looks a good capture and the teams were goals against good teams ie Norwich,OPR,,he took them well and he could play up top as well as on the wing,
I would keep the same team as against Liverpool those players deserve a chance,
The bench could be Moses,Jelivic,Antoinio,Oxford,Carroll Speigle,
    If everyone is fit

Bubs you are correct, we should select the same team as against Liverpool. The pressure of keeping their places will intensify performances. If Noble is out, I would bring in Moses the only change. Well done to the two David’s and Slaven – Moses a serious signing. Just picture the front 4 of Moses, Payet and Valencia in behind Sakho. !!!

Oz I’m from down under as well.I admit the owners have p*ssed me off a lot of the time but am quite happy with the results.I admit I was wrong this time.Cheerz.

  • Michael Miller says:

Yes, well done to the Dave’s – they were getting a lot of stick about apparent inactivity but definitely came across with some exciting signings.

The West Ham Bench last week at Liverpool – Spiegel, Jarvis, Oxford, Lee, Cullen, Samuelsen, Knoyle showed the weakness of the Squad. The Squad now has proper depth and Bilic has got something to work with!

  • whambam says:

I actually said they would go down in everyone’s estimation if they helped Levy out with his wage problems by taking their players and letting them nick our targets, they did the opposite and I believe that the Spuds have come out of this window pretty badly while we have ceased playing catch up with the top seven, we should fear no-one home or away and that’s been bought about by the people who have worked hard since the window has been open, well done all involved,

  • GW says:

I’ll hold my hands up and apologise to both DS and DG for calling them tightwads. This is a balanced squad with most of the deadwood washed away never to return, pace and skill replacing inflated egos and delusions of grandeur. From the manager down there is exhuberance and fight in that squad with a touch of class ,oh how things change onwards and upwards COYI
