Gold’s defence of striker

|

West-Ham-United-co-owner-David-GoldDavid Gold has given a pretty snappy answer to those who continue to entertain doubts about Andy Carroll.

The co-chairman is convinced that this time around we are set for an injury free run from a player whom he admires enormously.

Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh he said: “The knee injury against Southampton really was bad luck because his two main issues have been heel and ankle. The heel injury has been solved. We know exactly how to maintain it – that’s fine.

“And as far as the ankle is concerned he has had all the surgery and rehab required for that to no longer be an issue. He had a ‘loose’ ankle but it has now been rebuilt and that too is fine.

“He and therefore us have had some bad luck but we are both due a turn of fortunes.”

After seeing Carroll take taking some widespread abuse on Twitter Gold said that the player’s total determination to make yet another return is admirable and should be respected by everybody.

He made it clear that having seen the player’s approach to rehab that his attitude is spot on on and that he believes his approach has been courageous in the extreme.

Meanwhile in a response on the social network as to whether the striker will ever give us value for the £18 million we club paid for him, DG said: “I am confident that he will get a England call up in the not to distant future. dg”

Let’s hope DG is right but I will not hold my breath,
And can we forget England for at least a season because that will be where he picks up the injury that will finish his career knowing our luck,
