David Gold has taken a wicked swipe at Match of the Day after the thrilling West Ham victory over Southampton.
Clearly totally fed up at seeing the Irons treated as poor relations after a series of 0-0 and one 1-1 draw the co chairman made his feelings known on Twitter immediately after the game.
He tweeted @garylineker @BBCOne with a huge mickey-taking jibe at their decision to regularly relegate the Irons down their pecking order.
DG tweeted: “@GaryLineker @BBCOne I’ve just found out that West Ham v Southampton is on MOTD just after The 0-0 draw between Yeovil and Oxford Utd. dg
Well done DG – almost as much a killer punch as the Andy Carroll goal that killed off Saints after that 4-0 hammering of Arsenal.
It really has been a very good night with us Hammers people having the last laughs all over the place.
It all depends on goals – get a boring nil-nil and you’ll be last on MOTD – West Ham have been struggling to score and not playing well – you can’t blame the BBC for that!
Watched it through till 1 am. Started dozing off in the first half. Nearly went to bed at half time but thought sod it, I’m a long time Hammer. …must stay awake! The revival has begun. Come on you Irons!
I only watch match of the day to see how ‘the other’ teams got in to be fair. To see the West Ham game I watch the extended highlights on sky.
The only plus point tonight with the **** and very late MOTD coverage of us was that I could watch all the other games limited highlights then switch to sky’s match choice at 11:30 to watch the extended highlights of our game without having to listen to old jug ears banale assessment of the game. MOTD is a dead donkey hosted by a boring selection of idiots, the dullard Lineker and the even more boring shearer, thank god I don’t have BT sport which I have heard is even worse.
