Reece Oxford is closing in on his dream of making a permanent move to the German Bundesliga.

His loan club Augsberg – now free of relegation worries- have the opportunity of signing the central defender for as little as £3 million and are now close to doing a deal.

Although the young Iron has made only seven appearances for the team since joining in January he has impressed enough for the German outfit to apparently be ready to shell out.

We were told by a senior Hammers source that a deal was drawing closer and it would now be a surprise if Oxford didn’t make his long expected move into the club.

Both he and Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini agree that a move away from the London Stadium is now in the player’s best interests and despite his limited number of appearances he is thought to have done enough to clinch the move.

CandH was told by a senior insider on the ‘phone : “We hear they are likely to do it. There’s nothing certain of course but it is looking more probable than improbable.”

    Augsburg not Augsberg!

Hopefully there’s a decent sell on clause inserted. Maybe he’ll never reach his potential, but it would be nice to think we’d benefit financially if he ever does.

What happened to £8m? I thoubbr that was a good bit for a player they barely used. Still think midfield will be where he ends up best.
£3m makes more sense for a struggling Bundesliga club buying a squad player basically a loan few these days.. His made almost £6m in wages from West Ham Already.

From £14m with BMG where shouldn’t of recalled just started making games to £3m.
Well him & Carroll over £100k wages off
